We have had our R1T since new(3 1/2 years). Yesterday, our frunk lid went crazy. It started opening and closing without any input from us. This behavior continues today. The frunk has opened and closed at least 50 times on its own. We are afraid to drive the truck. We have tried every tip that we could find on Google. We have made a mobile service appointment. Has anyone else had this issue, how was it handled?

Did you try a hard reset? Hold down the hazard light button and the left control button.

Almost sounds like a wiring short - like from a mouse.

We have done three hard resets and three infotainment screen resets to no avail.

I just went outside to the truck and tried the manual frunk release button. It felt like it was returning to the neutral position. On the first try, it opened the frunk. It would not close it. I closed it with my phone. The manual button would not open the frunk again.

Is there anything in the frunk that may be pressing the emergency release button?

Although if the outside release button worked once, then not again, that does make me think that button may have a fault, and it's registering as being pressed over and over.

This happened sporadically in my truck and was traced to a short or fault in the frunk button.
I disengaged power frunk operation so that it stopped fully opening and closing. I never had any concern about it happening while driving.

I am also thinking a bad frunk button. The inside emergency release button has nothing near it.

I also disengaged the power frunk operation. The frunk still opened and closed.

Make sure there are no magnets or anything like that close to the switch/latch mechanism.

I once had same issue because of some magnets I had placed in the net basket near the switch/latch mechanism.

I don't have anything like that in the frunk.

Thanks for all the replies. I have mobile service coming Thursday. I will post the results.
