I have the latest update and I haven't seen anything.

Do you mean it'll just turn on when it *thinks* you're parking? I feel that would get annoying quickly.

If I need to check something, I just hit the camera button and its on instantly.
Speaking of cameras…wasn’t there an OTA that was to display “blind-spot view” (for lack of a better term) when turn signal was activated. Thought I read this a while back. Thx everybody

It's in the works, but not out yet.

Ah, thanks mate! My biggest concern is having the quarter view, seeing a CyberTruck, and vomiting on my nice OC interior! Haha

When I back into a space while parallel parking my rear camera comes on, then when I’m pulling forward it switches to the front camera. Don’t all R1s do this?

This is an option we all have. But after you go above 5mph it turns off. This thread is more about the front camera coming on automatically while parking in Drive vice reverse.

Yes.... it works extremely well in New Mercedes suvs. Was supposed to be part of the latest OTA update
In my experience the Mercedes parking camera app is the best on the market. Since at least 20915 onward, it shows directional lines in front and back mode, cross hatches that allow you to measure how far you are from obstacles, and the 2023 EQE SUV models have a bubble around the overhead car image that morphs when you get close to things. The Rivian should at least have directional lines and cross hatches. That seems pretty basic to me.

Not an issue for me. I usually back into spaces in lots as well as when parallel parking. If I pull through to the other side, I hit the camera icon to make sure I’m centered in the space with the Birds Eye view.

Wassym stated earlier this year it’s on their roadmap for the front camera to turn on automatically when the car goes below a certain speed

Reminder - If you quickly put the vehicle in reverse then drive the front camera will automatically come on.

Only if you have that option enabled.

Good thing Rivian has 18892 years to catch up to mercedes on this feature.

If you're parking and turning the wheel sharply and trying not to hit pedestrians or get hit by other yahoos who aren't paying attention, a button of any kind is a little awkward. Giving a voice command lets you focus on what you're doing.
That sounds like a reckless way to park. When I park I line up with where I need to begin my turn into the spot then come to a complete stop and check for hazards. It is as this time I turn the camera on. Its more or less how computerized park assist works as well.

You don't turn the button on while in motion you stop, get into "park mode" and guide yourself into the spot. Auto camera is not necessary and would probably ruin my concentration.

Also BMW'S park assist is beyond cool. It maps the lot, gives you options of open spots you select with the touchscreen and you just select one and it does it. It also has a trackback mode.

Around here driveways can be super narrow and winding and are a bitch to back down. BMW remembers the last couple hundred feet of pulling forward and will reverse in the exact same path ensuring you're never stuck.

That sounds awesome.. years ago I had a partner that grew up in Manhattan and didn't get a license until he was 29 years old. Whenever he drove, I always told him to chase cars that went down alleys I knew were a dead end. He hated backing up and I got a kick out of him swearing at me while we backed for a block at 2 mph. Good times!! He would love that feature...

One time I had to back down a Milwaukee inner city street during winter with a 6x12' trailer and cars on both sides. I had an inch between cars at one point. There was some swearing that day for sure.
