I've heard speculation that the new Gen2 R1S's are a bit more responsive on acceleration. I always noticed a bit more of a lag on my Quad R1S to our Model X. Even though our R1S had way more horsepower, and faster 0-60... The more responsive Model X just felt faster and more fun off the line.

I'm wondering if anyone can speak to improvements with Gen2. Is this due to Gen2 design, or just a matter of moving away from the quad Bosch motors?

More likely a mixture of software tuning/safety/torque management/anti-wheel spin/peak current draw limitations.

In which sport mode + disabling the traction control will help a little, but I'm sure there is a baseline limitation that Rivian baked in.

Perhaps the next update will assist in this area?

Some of the things I've listed can also be improved upon in Gen 2.

Yea, I recall hearing in a couple reviews the acceleration off the line seemed better. I'm curious given the Bosche motor technology is over 5-6 years old at this point since original design, if the new motors can take power quicker and convert that power to torque more instantly.

In the latest software update 19.4 significant improvements have been made to throttle response in the R1. I suspect its just tuning that is now available on all with the latest update. G1 and G2.

In sport mode set stability to reduced. It makes it way more responsive to throttle input.

My theory is that in the normal stability setting, Rivian slowly ramps up the power to avoid wheel spin. In reduced it is less worried about a bit of slip so it is willing to ramp up much faster.
