Hey everyone, new to the forum and not a R1 owner, very excited for R2. A couple of questions that I can't seem to find anywhere else:
1. are the mirrors (rear and side) auto dimming?
2. do the side mirrors tilt down when put in reverse?
3. not being an R1 owner and have read only good things about the navigation system, if you are a Waze user (to get traffic and cop's locations) do you miss using it without carplay in the Rivian? How well does the navigation system work at giving route options, traffic updates, and charger options. My Ev6 sucks at it and it is very frustrating when it tells me I have to stop and charge when I know I will make the next charger/stop. which leads me to the last question...
4. my ev6 makes you navigate to a DCFC to enable battery pre-condition, does Rivian do the same?
Thank you all!

If you’ve read all R2 releases and coverage, and have not found relevant specifics, then it hasn’t been released yet. More to come when order books open. Currently in R1 the mirrors are auto dimming and heated. They tilt in reverse, added in a previous OTA. Can be disabled in vehicle settings menu if you don’t wish to add additional duty cycles on the components and find camera views adequate.

Nav is now powered by Google and vastly improved since early days. It still suggests odd routes occasionally. Nav UI has a button for reporting anomalies. No inclusion of police or speed trap warnings. I find that as long as you blend in with traffic, you don’t draw attention. Do not miss CarPlay.

Precondition is automatic, as needed, if DCFC site is your nav destination. There is a manual preconditioning button (IIRC), by customer demand. But I find that is only needed in some specific use cases.

Yes.
2. do the side mirrors tilt down when put in reverse?
Yes, you can enable this, and configure the exact amount you want each side mirror to tilt

Recently it has become excellent with Google maps based route options selectable, and with auto re-routing based on traffic. Sometimes the traffic data does seem out of sync but only in how it is displayed. I expect this is a small bug they will fix
4. my ev6 makes you navigate to a DCFC to enable battery pre-condition, does Rivian do the same?
Yes, you must be navigating to a DCFC to enable pre-conditioning there is no way that I know to turn it on manually

There's definitely a "Precondition Manually" button on the Charging screen - I use it regularly when I want to use a charger other than the one the nav system chooses and I don't want to play games with my arrival SOC.

There is a button to turn precondition on manually on the center screen. I would like to see it added to the phone app on the future but have not seen any indication it is on their radar

Just curious - what's your use case for having it in the app? It's only relevant when you're driving and heading to a location that the nav doesn't know is a L3 charger.

Thanks everyone for their replies, much appreciated. I also updated the title to include nav/preconditioning.

PS—once the software is updated to include Google AI, you'll be able to navigate to destinations with a "hey, Rivian" voice prompt (among other things).
