Delivery Analysis. 2025 R1T.

Pros:

  1. Good tutorial on use of screens and controls. Thanks Tevin.
  2. Loaner (quad, 2024) provided while NEW 2025 is repaired.
  3. All staff were friendly and yet apologetic for a brand new truck that was not working properly.
  4. Exterior & interior well constructed. All surfaces excellent fit and finish.
  5. Excellent programming and controls.

Cons:

  1. Electric problem with AC/DC charging issue.
  2. Four day minimum repair after waiting 4 1/2 months.
  3. Adapter NOT delivered with truck. Will be mailed in ?weeks. Superchargers only.
  4. Must purchase adapter for Tesla home charger. Not included.
  5. Roof racks paid for and NOT delivered; also to be mailed.
  6. Terrible button for Frunk opening. Hard to find.
Result: Not picked up. Sent home with a 2024 quad R1T loaner.

1) Sorry to hear that. What was the problem exactly? How did you discover it?
2) Yup, service times are long. But a 4 day service time is nothing. And a 4.5 month wait for your vehicle is nothing ... many of us waited YEARS.
3) Of course. It's drop-shipped. And free BTW. You'll have it in a few weeks. Chill.
4) Of course. They have different charge ports. That's on you.
5) Again of course. Cross bars are also drop-shipped. Always have been.
6) LOL I don't even know what that means. No harder than finding a hood latch on an ICE vehicle. Just find a reference point that makes sense to you and the second time you try it will be easy to find. I use the hood ornament as my reference point. Unlike an ICE vehicle, you will probably be using the frunk a lot, so it will quickly become second nature. (Just yesterday I had to pop the hood on my wife's Honda to replace the battery. Took me WAY longer than it should have to find the latch. But notably I'm not blaming Honda for a bad design ...)

Well perhaps the description of what’s ordered should include: not shipped with vehicle.
expectations are better customer relations for a vehicle that’s almost 100 grand!
What has your Honda got to do with a Rivian?
Staff at delivery were stellar!
Making customers wait is not!
Negative replies are not helpful.

The vehicle should have been validated before getting on a train to reach you. So the charging issue is a bit like delivering a ICE vehicle without a gas tank. That part is crap.

The rest are just expectations and assumptions on your part.

To be fair, They should state in the purchase process (which I feel like they did when I bought mine) that accessories would be sent to me either just ahead of vehicle delivery, or shortly after. In my case, charger arrived before, cargo bars and floor mats came within 2 days of delivery. NACS adapter came quite a bit later for obvious reasons.

I'm also not sure why you think the frunk button is terrible, I use it many times a day, location wise, it's fine, because of the rubber texture it's easy to distinguish. Is it somehow worse than your Tesla frunk? if so, how?

I just use the app to open and close the frunk most of the time. However, the button isn't hard to locate once you get an idea of where it is and using a reference point to find it from there.

Bad part of this (besides the customer experience) is Rivian continues to have QC issues. How does a vehicle with this issue make it out of Normal? Especially with production reduced because of supply chain issues. The adapter matters if you have a long drive home and need to charge along the way otherwise shouldn't be a big deal. Mine came 2 weeks after delivery.

All good. In the dark frunk button was an issue but found easily in daylight.
AC charging issue will be solved on Monday (after Thanksgiving). I should receive my new truck that day.
thanks for the contributions.
Love Rivian and positive thoughts reign.

You still haven't said what your charging problem was? If it's a problem AC charging, did they discover that before delivery when they tried to top off your car in preparation? It sounds like you didn't drive the car off the lot, so how was this problem discovered?
