Lol a carplay troll. Bye.
This past weekend I added the ev1 smart dash screen to my truck so I could have "carplay" and it works very well. For anyone wanting carplay; I'd just recommend getting that instead of complaining since we know carplay won't ever come natively.

very underwhelming update. maybe they spent too much effort making the graphics more pretty last time? it's sort of annoying that they would kick off the 60 day trial without introducing anything substantive to make use of it (oh, I can directly stream apple music which I have to pay for separately?).
It's disappointing that Rivian wants the charge 150% of what Tesla charges, particularly where Tesla offers 10x the amount of "stuff" included with their premium connectivity....
Tesla doesn't let you use the car as a hotspot. This could be a big difference in data usage.

This is my only beef with this new Connect+ plan. I'll pay the $12/month to stream Spotify vs. connect with Bluetooth with noticeably diminished audio quality (for an already sub-standard sound system) but starting the trial before I have the update feels dirty.
Waiting for the update to start the trial is a back door for people to continue with unpaid Connect+. You can expedite receiving the update by connecting your car to your home wifi. But why does the update even matter? This is really just Rivian announcing an end to free data; softening the blow with free 2 months.

That is my plan. I’m accepting the fact that what they are offering does not work for me at all. How do you like the ev1 screen?

worked much better than I would have thought. Getting it to snap into place takes a little wiggling; but overall very solid. I really like having the turn by turn showing up on the cell phone with the map showing up on the carplay screen; felt informed at all times.

Originally I was going to take it down after the road trip, but have decided to just leave it for now.

No, it isn't. Everyone's trial already started, regardless of software version.

You have it connected to Bluetooth, right? I have the same unit. Just a little confused by your comment about the turn by turn showing up on the phone.

Wireless CarPlay devices connect to the phone via WiFi, not Bluetooth. The phone is connected simultaneously to the CarPlay device via WiFi and the vehicle audio via Bluetooth. When you have a destination active in Apple Maps via CarPlay you can show the upcoming steps on your phone screen.

I have a mount with my phone up to the left of the screen. When using Waze, the list of all the turns you have coming up show up on the cell phone and the ev1 screen shows the actual map. Personally love the dual screen setup that way so i can always know what turn is coming after the upcoming turn (ie, 3 lanes going right but 200ft later you need to be in the far left lane to make the next turn)

Does anyone know when they will add bluetooth to Connect+? This is getting crazy!!! I miss my model S. The subscription was worth it since they provided such a great music platform. No Apple Music needed. Rivian isn’t listening to their customers. This isnt going to end well for them.
I don't know when you last had your Model S but both the streaming service and connectivity are now paid services with Teslas.

Yeah, I like this set up as well. You can also toggle the second screen to show all the upcoming alerts coming up on your route. That's how I keep mine set for most road trips.

I purchased my Model S in 2018. They started charging me a few years ago for streaming. My point was that a streaming music service came with the Tesla subscription. It was like Tesla’s version of Pandora or Apple Music. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. Their streaming music was awesome imo. That’s my issue. For streaming music via my R1S, it will require 2 or more subscriptions. There is no built in streaming option where additional subscriptions aren’t needed.
