Hey all,

Used to have an Explore build and not willing to wait years for a dual motor cheaper option. I'm currently configured Adventure / Large Pack / LA Silver / Powered Tonneau. I don't actually want the powered tonneau but it seems like that's all that's being built now? What configuration seems to have the best chance of being built? Has anyone gotten a truck with no tonneau cover?

October 2020 pre order holder.

Thanks!

I'm not sure configuration matters much anymore since the Adventure trim is pretty much the only one offered. Unless you count having a broken powered tonneau completely removed I'm not sure I've seen any pictures posted of a true off the line manual tonneau or no tonnea option. Wheel avaliability may play a part but I've seen more of a mix recently.

One of the issues with this approach is that we don't know what Rivian will build next. All we know is what's being delivered, and any trucks being delivered have already rolled off the line, so don't tell us what's up next. They very well may have finished an OC "batch" or whatever by the time we see those being delivered, so I wouldn't select OC just because a bunch of forum members just got them.

This is in addition to it being unclear how switching your config will affect priority. It's not guaranteed that if you guess right and switch to whatever config they're building now that you'll be slotted in line ahead of someone whose preorder date is after yours, but who's had their config locked in for a year or more.

It just seems counterproductive to change your config away from what you actually want to chase an earlier delivery date this way. There's no reason to think that it'll actually change your timeline for the better.

No one, even the Rivian employees have seen a truck with no tonneau or manual tonneau yet. So if getting a truck asap is your goal, I would leave the powered tonneau on there. They seem to be able to produce all paint colors right now, and all interior choices (R1T only), although I think FG and BM are still more readily available. The only other thing might be your wheel choice. 21s seem to be easier to come by, but they seem to be producing all colors of 20s again too.

All of the above is speculation obviously. Just observations from here on the forums.

@COdogman - your comment about interior colors appears to only be true on R1T. So far I have _only_ seen BM on the R1S. I have yet to see FE or OC on the R1S, even on the delivery by the Rivian Stories guys. @skyote - can you comment on this?

Thanks for the clarification. We have spent so much time here only referring to trucks that I am forgetting people are getting R1Ss delivered now.

We have also recently reconfigured from Explore Package to Adventure Package. We have a November, 2018 pre order. We have ordered without a tonneau cover. We are hoping that this may get us some earlier attention as Rivian should start turning some of these out to avoid their primary vehicle issue.

Not implying anything, just chiming in on this thread with anecdotal info that I've opened and closed my tonneau everyday for the past few months without any issues. Silicone spray (dry lube) applied to tracks once a month so far.

I don't really want the tonneau either, but my guide confirmed that they are not making without yet. And that its the one thing he could confidently say would affect delivery. So on it went!

To date, I'm only aware of R1S with BM interior AND underbody shield. That could easily change at any point though...

@skyote - so you and schutlzy both got BM interiors? I thought he was holding out for OC.

He decided to be flexible in order to take delivery ASAP!
