Nope, same program as far as I know. It's the same line item on the purchase agreements anyway and everything else has it's own line item so I doubt they would combine those if they were separate programs. I know some websites state $3,500 and some state $3,850 and was surprised to see $3,850 in our purchase agreement. I didn't complain.

The CO credit was supposed to be dropping to $750-$2,000 for 2026. The range was based on the "type of car" but I don't believe that has yet been specified. Needless to say, it's set to drop pretty dramatically unless something changes.

The state still seems pretty focused on getting EVs in everyone's garage so my guess is that it could be amended to not drop off that much. Especially since CO now seems to be in some sort of EV incentive pissing match with the current federal regime.

I'm not a real big fan of .gov subsidies but it kind of sucks that they removed them (at the Federal level) for EVs and clean energy and the oil industry still enjoys all of it's subsidies and new programs coming online to bolster their bottom line even further. I just want a more level playing field and the EV stuff at least attempted to do that.

I really thought that Elon's DOGE team would endeavor to get all such subsidies 86'd but most of their findings report was basically denied in terms of taking any real action so the spending continues. Unfortunately.

Note: not trying to get political here as I didn't state which politicians or public figures I support or don't so let's make sure to not let political leanings derail what is otherwise a non-political thread. It's just very difficult to discuss things like tax credits w/o at least mentioning related political actions.
Not sure, but there's nothing in the instructions for the DR0617 that provides for an additional amount over and above what shown on the Department of Revenue guidance (at least for 2024, 2025 not released yet https://tax.colorado.gov/sites/tax/files/documents/DR_0617_2024_0.pdf ).

Edit - never mind, I see what you're talking about. It evidently does become 3,850 when assigned (still kind of baffled where that 350 is coming from). and financed. It's 3,500 if it's not assigned through your dealer, but claimed on your tax return. Rivian doesn't assign and pass through the CO credit (at least on a lease - just traded in last May, not sure on purchase), so it's 3,500 for a Rivian.

Makes sense. I'm not sure all of the machinations behind the scenes but our Colorado credit was $3,850 on two new Model Y's bought from Tesla. We financed one because it was 0% interest and that ~$50k is making me over $2k per year just sitting in a savings account but the other one was cash. We bought a 3rd one in 2023 (also a Model Y and also in cash) that was still the $5,000 credit at the time.

That was nice to get but I'd still like to see the government subsidies go away. We've got a serious spending problem (at all levels) so I have to be consistent in my desire to spend less... even if it means I wouldn't benefit from it. If more people shared that sentiment there wouldn't be as many subsidies but I guess everyone loves "free" money too much. 😂

Luckily CO has TABOR, which essentially means overall tax collections can't increase over inflation. That keeps CO's spending in check since they can't just increase taxes without voter approval, but they are being more creative in who pays the tax through credits and income adjustments (probably more incoming after the OBBB). CO used to be a very simple tax return - take federal taxable income, add or remove adjustments for a couple of items common to most states, multiply by the tax rate and that's it. Now we have all sorts of add backs, subtractions, credits, etc. They basically doubled the length of the CO return in 2024.

I'm fine with removing EV credits, but I think the more hidden subsidies for ICE should be removed as well.

We're 100% in agreement there. We can't afford these subsidies as we rapidly head towards insolvency as a nation. Soon we won't even be able to service our debt's interest. That'll be fun.

Thankfully we still have TABOR. It seems like we get closer and closer to removing it with each passing year though. I'm afraid that the younger and younger the voting skews the less they understand how important that is to Coloradoans. It'll be a sad day if it ever goes away.

One thing is for sure, they keep trying. Regardless of political viewpoints, when it comes down to it, people have a real hard time voting for a tax increase statewide. Denver and Boulder have no problems voting their sales tax into the sky though it seems, even though Denver did vote down some of the last increase.

Definitely good news. But as you mentioned, the income limit ($90K for a 2-person household in Denver), plus the need to trade in an ICE vehicle at the time of purchase, will pretty much knock out the vast majority of potential Rivian buyers. But hopefully this incentivizes those who meet the criteria to switch to EV.
Still waiting on my tax credit to get resolved from my Dec '24 purchase, despite my tax accountant banging on the State. Promises of a credit mean nothing if their system can't even recognize our vehicles.

It took me an appeal and 4 months to get my tax credit for 2023, despite attaching all the same items I included with the appeal to the tax return I originally filed. They have an automated system that kicks out a lot of valid credits, despite them saying everything is working as it should.

Procuring the Christmas tree Colorado style: Pike and San Isabel National Forest. A great way to get a tree and support the NFS at the same time. Also a good excuse for some winter off-roading.

Anyone know a great detailer in denver who can do paint correction to fix a scratch? Mobile preferred but happy to drive as well.

My parked truck got side-swiped and the rear quarter panel has a pretty good scuff in the clearcoat, but no dent and it didn’t go all the way to the paint. I’m hoping a quality detailer could “buff” It out.
