Used this Amazon option on a trip and it did fairly well with no noticeable noise or affect on efficiency. Cargo size was nice. 18 cuft and opened from either side. Price has come down a bit as well. Now selling for $300 on Amazon.

That looks more like what I had in mind for size. Does it feel secure when mounted? Any issues with it? I’m thinking about retuning the Thule and getting that one instead. Thanks for sharing it.

The only thing you will have to do is to re-drill the mounting holes in the bottom. I had no issues with it and have stored various items in there. You just have to be mindful that the cargo in there will move around.

Trying to center it during the install is the toughest part. Make sure to measure twice and drill once. Use blue tape to mark your measurements.

There is also a "JEGS" version of the same box on Amazon.

Hi I bought one, but am having an issue with mounting it above the truck bed. The precut holes in the carrier are too close together so I can’t attach to the second bar as is. Did you run into this and drill a second set of holes or handle it some other way? I’d love any advice from the original poster or others. I have a big summer trip planned and am looking for as much rain proof and lockable cargo room as possible while maintaining efficiency.

I got it to work without drilling...maybe I just got lucky.
