Can we start waving???

I've noticed the same thing - it seems I'm more likely to get a wave back if the other driver is in an R1T. No matter, if I see you in a Rivian and can do it, you'll get a wave from me. I love the camaraderie!

Maybe one day when they're as common as M3/MY it will get old, but I hope not. It reminds me of what it was like in my first car, a '72 Midget. You don't see many of those, even back in the early '80s when I had mine. We'd often wave or flash our lights at each other when meeting on the road.

Lol ... My girlfriend at the time had one of those. She was a shortie; actually sat on a phone book (if you can remember those) so that she could see over the dash. Makes me smile to remember.

One day in Park City while driving around I saw 5 Rivians. There must be a lot of them there. The people in Utah that buy Rivians don't seem to see themselves as a part of a distinct group. I gave up trying to signal them by flashing my headlights or any other way.

Wowww as a Park City native i am highly offended of your generalization. I make sure i wave at every rivian i see, unfortunately i also get shot down by the numerous soccer moms with their face in their phones

Since we have no Carplay.... let's just start being nice to each other and wave as we pass =)

I got a good wave from a passing Rivian driver recently! How nice. Just please don't start doing things like the Jeep owners do and putting rubber ducks on the hood or something . ha

Just drove home from the gym. As I was going through a light, I looked to my right and saw a green R1S. I gave him a thumbs up about the same time he was starting to wave.

This is a fairly small town ~ 50 miles west of DC. I’ve seen another R1T around (normally at the Home Depot), and I know there’s another R1S (LA Silver I believe), but this was the first green one I’ve seen.

We drove to Palomar Observatory yesterday and on the opposite side of the road came a R1S and both the driver and the passenger actually waved at us (R1S).

I haven't seen anyone do that around us - there are way too many R1S/T - so it took me by surprise and I didn't think to wave back.

So if that was one of you forum members, sorry about that. I'll try to remember when I see another R1 outside of our area.

I always wave and sometimes I do the wink (quick left blinker). I never get any acknowledgement from mostly women drivers and if I have to guess, non-forum members. I live in an area where in a 1-mile radius there’s probably a dozen Rivian owners and multiply that in a 2-mile radius, so the excuse for not waving from what I’ve read from other thread is that it gets tiring to do it every time. But you will get a blink from me.

I will say that I see a bunch more on the weekends, but I’m fairly certain they’re not local. Our town is a pass-through on the way to the Shenandoah mountains, so a lot of day hikers coming from the closer DC/NoVA suburbs.

To show you how old I am, I remember when we BMW owners would wave or flash headlights. That was back when BMw’s were rare. I’ll wave or flash for any Rivian for a while now…

Fun thread! I love it. Here is the STL everyone is still very neighborly. I'd say about 80% of the time we get reciprocal waves. To the point my kids get embarrassed. "Dad you don't know them!" I love it.

Went to Chattanooga today from Middle TN (Tullahoma). Sorry I didn’t wave at the white R1T that was behind me in downtown Chattanooga. Thanks for the headlight flash from the Rivian near New Hope. Driving back roads between Nickajack and South Pittsburgh was the last place I though I would see a Rivian!
