Amazon Music through the integrated voice system has worked flawlessly in all of our Rivians since 2022. No syncing phones, no extra steps, just sit down, say what we want, and it plays. For us, that’s a meaningful loss. If Wassym gets an Amazon Music app up and running the same day they silence the current integration, great.

If someone feels differently, that’s fine. We’re all the arbiters of what works best for our own setups, not anyone else. Rivians aren’t audiophile vehicles, but the Meridian system is miles ahead of the alternatives, and Amazon Music has always sounded great in it.
Agreed. Once I added an external sub, the Meridian is very good with quality source material.
Don't understand why they just can't enable USB audio.

I find these type of threads entertaining to say the least.

Yes, there are some valid arguments, points. but you all, or most that own or have a Riv, knew you were buying into a new EV vehicle company. And this most likely meant they wanted to offer a product similar to, if not better, or worse, based on your perspective, than Tesla. And that meant a lot of in-house components. Which undoubtedly included their own s/w stack.

Can, should it be better? Yes. Are they still lagging based on many of our expectations? Yes. In the end nothing was guaranteed, so “suck it up buttercup”. HA!

And if you really dislike something, send Rivian your feedback.

I had no issues with Alexa. I subscribe to Amazon Music, and Alexa was great for that.

All my home Echo Dots have been switched over to the smarter Alexa+. I was hoping (before RA came out) that Rivian would also switch to Alexa+.

I love that RA can send/read texts though. It's been pretty good with general info inquiries, navigation (which Alexa sucked at) and vehicle controls.

With all that said: just give me a native Amazon Music app that RA can control and I'll be happy!

I agree with this. I miss Amazon music from this perspective. Could play whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. When I switched to Rivian assistant i lost this. Then tried going back to the FM radio and that didn't work. Luckily I found that out while still in warranty at least. Hah. I've given feedback for a native Amazon music app, so glad it will be coming and hopefully Rivian Assistant will be well integrated.
I also have the bug where my phone key stops working for passive entry and vehicle start, so glad to see this bug will be fixed in next update even if we don't get native Amazon music app yet.

I considered Alexa an added unexpected benefit. I used it to do very important things like opening and closing the frunk, which I very well could have done through the car itself. Then Rivian offered me two months of connect+. This was a very interesting experience. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Perhaps my pronunciation was not native to C+ but we had issues. For example, I would ask the assistant to call a friend or my wife and it would ask me to select from a random list of names that were not even close to my original request. Then there was the user error frustrations born out of first-world experiences. I found myself correcting myself on more than one occasion when I said, "Alexa, hey Siri, oh shit hey Rivian." Needless to say, those commands were ignored. Cheers.

Honestly, I completely forgot alexia was even on my Rivian. And outside of my Riv, it’s easily been maybe a decade since I use alexa too.

I used Rivian Assistant when it was introduced. Thought it was neat, but redundant and pointless for my needs.

I am sure many others will find a good use case for RA in their day to day tho.
