Interesting as 60% expressed a preference for the 400 mile battery.

I wonder if many of those that accepted 300 in order to get their trucks faster will trade up to the 400 mile when it becomes available. I did that on my Tesla. I thought it was kind of dumb for Rivian to offer the less desired model first. Now I'm starting to think maybe it was pretty smart.

Launch edition is not available with the Max Pack, and so if you even thought you might want the LE, you had to configure one. You can change away from the LE, but according to Rivian there would no way to change to it later (now listed as "sold out"). There is no commitment involved in configuring at this point.
Another factor is anyone wanting an R1S did not have the option of configuring the "longer range" version (which is shaping up to be less than the 400+ miles on the R1T).

There may be a fair amount that "trade up" before even taking delivery once more info is available - nobody has accepted or actually ordered anything.

I configured as an LE, but may change later.
There are some things I really want/need included with the LE, some that are OK but not worth paying much (if anything) for, and others I would prefer not to have. How close I can get to my "ideal" configuration by adding to the Explorer, and what the cost becomes when doing so will dictate whether I stick to the LE. Earlier delivery is not a significant factor for me.

I hope that more information (including pricing) for the removable roof becomes available before we have to lock into an actual purchase order for the LE. It’ll be hard to pull the trigger on the LE without knowing whether or not to wait for the coming options.
