Hey all - thinking about pulling the trigger on an R1T. Have one configured with the 21" wheels/tires. I need to be able to tow my 4500lb. boat/trailer from NW Arvada up to Grand Lake without charging. It's a 98 mile trip if I take I70/Floyd Hill, 93 miles if I take US-6 to Idaho Springs.

I've watched all the videos, etc. but can't really find a similar test/comparison. I start at about 5,800ft, have to cross Berthoud pass which peaks at 11,300ft and then end up in Grand Lake at about 8,370ft.

Have any of you done this with your R1T?

Thanks,
Frank

Well I ended up getting the R1T and towed my boat up to Grand Lake on Friday. I was worried about making the trip prior to getting the truck, but after towing the boat up to Ft. Collins and back a few times I was much more confident that I'd be able to make it.

As it turns out I had NOTHING to worry about. Here are my trip details:

Beginning Charge: 100%
Total Distance: 93 miles
Average Efficiency: 1.28 mi/kWh
Total Energy: 72.6 kWh
Ending Charge: 42%
Total Elevation Gain: 8653 ft
Total Elevation Loss: 6155 ft

This truck is a towing beast. I couldn't be happier, or more impressed.

You can see the elevation profile of the trip here:

Wow, that's great! Did you / will you track efficiency for the return trip? I'm always curious how net elevation affects it.

I did the trip back again yesterday with the boat. Hit a little traffic, but here's the report:

Total Distance: 92.8 miles
Average Efficiency: 2.18 mi/kWh
Total Energy: 42.6 kWh

Sorry I didn't record the beginning and ending SOC, but the above info. is what's important.

As you can tell, let's of regen, taking advantage of the elevation loss.
