Orange peel is even more prevalent since the move to waterborne paints, and technology Allowing ever thinner coatings.

alllll the European cars are bad for it especially.….barring super high end hand finished luxury vehicles of course
Mine is terrible for sure, so covered with stealth ppf. Win win.

Well, you like it. I don't. Both statements can be true at the same time :)
Absolutely. No right or wrong answers here. It’s all personal preference and we’re all going to be a bit different. No matter one’s preferences, however, what I do find helpful is what others perceive when seeing the Rivian chameleon colors in person.

For example, Red Canyon has much more orange than is seen in photos. I didn’t know that and love that. Others will hate it. Limestone had a lot of light blue in early posted photos, but less so in person. I personally dislike the color and find it boring. My wife loves it. I love how Compass Yellow looks in photos, but in person it looks like mustard to me. I hated Launch Green on the configurator, was ambivalent about it in online photos, then loved it in person. I traditionally find white cars boring, but was impressed with Glacier White when I saw it in person. I think Midnight looks good only in matte. I find LA silver boring - and my friends said the same when I had an LA silver loaner, but for others LA silver is a sharp looking and perfect color. There is nothing I Ike about Forest Green either in person or in posted photos. For others, it’s a beautiful color.

Getting back to the original question, there are no changes to Rivian Blue of which I am aware. Many of us who chose it, love it. I personally see some unexpected green tints in it (probably what others have called turquoise) but it’s still definitively a bold and unique blue. Many people in parking lots (and friends) have told me how good the Rivian Blue color looks to them along with some form of “I’ve never seen that color before” as they gush over the truck.

Rivian colors are unique, wonderful, and complex chameleon colors. Best to see in person if one has the opportunity and pick whatever is best for your personal tastes.

I love my RB, and some hate it, but in no way is it worth $2500, same for compass yellow. There is nothing inherently different in production costs than any other color. Maybe the point was to make it rarer, and that worked it guess.

What major upgrades for the R1 platform? It is pretty new so I can’t think 800V for example. The interior and exterior design are set, dual motor already announced and range estimates provided along with pricing.
Watch the recent RJ interview — the one held in an R1T. He mentions an updated phone charger, new options in place of camp speaker, a few other things I can’t recall. We hear the app and screen layout is being overhauled. New winch has been rumored for a while. It’s clear a slew of updates are coming down the pike. R1 is 18 months old this summer. Definitely time to bump the design where needed.

Ok thanks, I had heard those smaller items like camp kitchen, the speaker, wireless charging mat. What I was wondering if anything major, worthy of delaying ordering, was coming. Sounds like not.

I love my blue R1T, but I had a brief moment of disappointment the first time I saw the color shifting on a red one. What a beauty! The only thing keeping me from having lasting regret is that I wanted a less flashy vehicle than my former red Tesla S. I'm very happy with my compromise.
Yeah RC is for sure not a color that blends in very well.

I do like the color shifting of some of Rivian’s colors. I don’t really like it on the blue. The blue looks better in photos than in person to me.
It was the opposite for me; was bored w/RB in the photos but in person it looks pretty cool.

For sure there is no actual change in the Rivian Blue color code or formulation. There might be slight variants of RB on the planet due to production variances, but the color has not changed. If it did change there would be a new color code, and almost certainly a new color name, and there currently is not.

The Rivian Blue does stand out on the road.

I’m surprised that Rivian didn’t add a new color choice for the 2023 model year.
Teslas now come in fewer colors than years ago. I wouldn’t expect the color varieties of traditional car manufacturers any time soon.
