Antenna mounts

Thanks for the pointers. I’m looking for something a bit more permanent. I am installing a rack, and that’s likely the direction I will go. My plan is to remote mount the radios in the trunk, so an antenna between the fender and the hood would make it easy to route the coax. However, mounting it to the roof rack would provide better elevation.

Glass mounts are out. Too much loss especially with tint installed.

I've had no issues with my glass mount. The key is making sure to grab an SWR meter and tune the things. Every antenna should be tuned after install imo.

What size was the hole you made?

Depends on the antenna you are using and how it mounts. Some I have used was a classic VHF style where the threads stuck through the hole and the cable on the backside was what held it in place. Others, the threads that stuck through was just a standard bolt (like the spring linked above).
Find an antenna that you like and base your mount on the antenna.

Do you mean the cross-bar? Or just the cross bar mount? For the cross-bar, see my post #9.
