I see those who are posting R1S shop inventory and I have to ask....Why is inventory available when many have not yet received their R1s? Many times a truck with their exact configuration is available in the shop. It was my understanding that Rivian was focused, currently, on producing vehicles for reservation holders. Is this not the case?

Only reservation holders are invited to the shop. And they will deliver/invite based on proximity to service centers over date of reservation. And of course their random "lucky lottery winners" that make no sense of getting a delivery. Either way, to be invited to the shop you have to already be a reservation holder.

I’ve seen multiple time where individuals with a guide but no shop access have seen their configuration become available. Thanks to this forum, Once they inquire with their guide, they are granted access and purchase their truck. To me, that makes no sense. Shouldn’t this be done through Rivian's convoluted reservation "score"? Why is a guide relied upon?

Like so many things, you read about the "exception" cases online because people like to post about unusual (good or bad) experiences. But what about the 90% - 95% - 98% (?) of the other cases where people got invited to the shop 3 months ahead of their reservation and it worked exactly as everyone would hope and expect? We don't hear about most of those, whatever the percentage is...

They are still in startup territory, trying to run at full speed while trying to figure out the best and fastest way to deliver vehicles. They still have things to fix and improve on....

I’m not real versed on how reservation holders get access. However, I’m not sure why the shop exists. It’s hard to believe that vehicles in the shop do not align with any reservation holders configuration. Perhaps none that live close to a service center?
