I had an opportunity to take the truck for a shakedown drive from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz today. About 110 miles in total including a couple of stops. As a side note, got approx 2.8mi/kwh overall - the drive home had a stronger headwind and I was deep into the throttle for fear of being late to pick my son up from school.
Used ACC on the way down. It was the first time I’ve tried to use it on a lengthy stretch. While it was fine in most traffic situations, there were some serious downsides in more rural parts of the drive (which is most of it).
1) Bicycles on the side of the road were identified as merging cars, and it slammed on the brakes twice.
2) On several occasions, oncoming vehicles were identified as threats and speed was considerably reduced.
3) “Ghost vehicles” appeared on the driver’s display on several occasions (usually mis-identified trees).
Has anyone else experience this when in similar conditions? For those not familiar, Highway 1 on this route is undeveloped, 2-lane undivided road with lots of turns and a typical speed limit of 55 mph. Trees and the occasional roadside cliff into the ocean. Etc.
