Purely from an ease of use standpoint I would say that the A2Z Typhoon Pro wins hands down. One button to push and the orientation of your hands while pushing that button makes it easy to remove both the adapter from the car and the NACS connector from the adapter.

The Rivian/Tesla adapter uses a tab that is awkwardly placed to release the NACS connector from the adapter. I end up putting the adapter in my armpit to hold it while I rub my head and pat my tummy, er, push the release tab with one hand while I pull the connector loose with the other. My wife struggles with this for sure.

That said, it's hard to overlook the approval of the Rivian adapter in the unlikely event something goes sideways with the charge...

I bought the gen 1 A2Z last summer and chose to remove the release spring. Yeah, people like to lecture me about arc flash, but if you're diligent about shutting down the charge there is no problem. I love the weight and the stylish case. Haven't received my free Riv adapter yet but honestly don't care having the A2Z.

I like the Rivian adapter better. A bit smaller, easier to handle. Another advantage to it is if you do ever have a problem that results in damage (remote possibility) you will have a better case if you are using the Rivian supplied adapter.
Point 1: The Rivian adapter is the only officially sanctioned charger from both Rivian and Tesla for use on Superchargers.

Point 2: In the grand balance of things (to me), the chances of supercharger fires/accidents is relatively tiny compared to not having access to a fast charger when I need it.

Because of these, I primarily use the Rivian adapter, but I keep the A2Z as a backup that I'm more than happy to use in case something happens to the Rivian one or I forget it somewhere.

My position exactly.

I have looked for this in the forum, but haven’t found the answer. Do new Rivians come with an adapter (as well as a portable EVSE)?

New Rivians will not come with the adapter for free anymore (it's available for ~$200 in the gear shop). But all new Rivians still come with a mobile EVSE with 120v (NEMA 5-15) and 240v (NEMA 14-50) plugs.

After trying the Typhoon Pro, Typhoon and Ford / Tesla OEM adapter. Here are my thoughts on them.

They all work great and beats having to use Electrify America. The most user friendly is the Typhoon pro due to the single switch to control the CCS side and NACS side. I also like how easy it is to hold the Typhoon pro securely. The lip on the NACS side is a nice touch to make sure the adapter doesn’t slip out of your hand.

The Ford / OEM Tesla dual latch is a little more user friendly compared to original Typhoon but a little harder to grip securely while toggling both the latches. I think grip tape might be nice to have as long as it doesn’t mess with thermals.

If anyone is interested, I have a Rivian adapter that I don’t need and would like to find a new home for it (obo). DM me.

Quite sure you're not supposed to sell the recalled typhoon charger

I have both and keep them both in my truck… good idea to have a back up plan if one fails at some point. Same with level 2 adaptors. I had one L2 adaptor defaulting with no back up once and learned the hard way.
