I got excited about the opportunity to get a full stealth wrap for $4500, thanks Rivian. However after talking it over with the shop, it appears that it is not anything I would want. The Rivian "special" for full wrap uses the same film, however, it doesn't include the cost to remove badging. The template has big square areas around all badges that it is cut to. For the normal shiny xpel that isn't an issue, but for Stealth you would easily see these big square cutouts. I would be OK if the film was cut more precisely to the emblems, but big square cutouts would standout big time.

It's also a lesser warranty and probably a thinner film (speculation)...

You are correct, it is a lesser warranty, it is 5yr/50k miles. The shop does say that the film is exactly the same, just different templates for the Rivian special.

I haven't contacted anyone for on this because I'm expecting them to say that while they can apply the film for that price it would be applied over dirty paint and if you want paint decontamination/ paint correction before the film it's an extra $2000. Anyone know if this is the case?

Interesting, and good to know. It certainly a competitively priced offer and I am sure many will take advantage. My PPF guy quoted me $7500 for full "stealth" so this certainly seems like a bargain before the fine print.

While I did think that this "deal" was too good to be true it's starting to seem like this is borderline false advertising. The website clearly states "all painted sections", so are the gaps in between each letter on the Rivian badges not counted as a painted section? Also the picture of the El Cap stealth wrapped on the site has the PPF applied all the way up to the Rivian badge on the tailgate, no uncovered square can be seen there. The price really should be bumped by $2k to set realistic expectations and not have every installer warn about having to lower their quality of work to be able to accept this offer. I filled out the form the day the site went live and still have not heard anything.

So with a normal XPEL warranty is trail damage included? If I go off roading and swipe something and it pulls at the wrap will XPEL replace that?

While I agree with most everything you said, the 2k bump is location specific. I was quoted 4500 from my PPF guy for full stealth xpel before Rivian ever sent their first email out. So the pricing is actually fairly accurate in some places. It seems from what I’ve been reading different parts of the country just charge wildly different rates. Not unlike housing or any other commodity lol

For someone looking for additional off road or street protection in clear it's still an excellent deal. It's the same material and a very practical offer IMO. YMMV. It's a truck my installer says, and I agree. I would have done this if I didn't already do mine in March.....

Couldn’t you debadge on your own and do a little polishing before bringing in the truck? To save $3500 I certainly would. I don’t mind gluing the badges back on either.

If you did the above do you think the shop would use the normal templates without the giant boxes missing?

Finally, it seems lots of shops are poo-pooing this deal. But aren’t they incentivized to do so? Surely they’d rather you spend $7500 than $4500. That incentive makes me wonder if they’re giving accurate info, quite honestly.

True, having a nationwide price for something where most of the cost is the labor involved was a mistake. If Rivian really did want to provide this to their customers having something like a rebate for $1-2k rebate off a quote from a certified XPEL installer would have been better.

Might be somewhat shop dependent but I was surprised at how much stuff was covered when I had one of my sports cars wrapped at Xpel Austin. There was a BMW there getting everything fixed for free that had severe ppf damage from the owner driving into their garage and forgetting that his bike was still in the bike rack on top of the car.

I had a full Xpel stealth wrap before Rivian offered this. They had the tuck for 8 days. De badged everything. Did paint correction and then ceramic over everything including the spare tire. When I got it back, the door badges were a little off. I took it back and they kept it an entire day to get them perfect. They also wrapped the edges in just about every area they possibly could. From talking with the owner - it is a pretty labor intensive process and the badges seem to be one of the things that give installers issues - especially on newer vehicles. I paid more than what Rivian is offering. In hindsight - I'm glad I went the route I did, but I probably would have taken Rivian's offer for a stealth wrap having not known all the subtle differences for different types of installs (i.e. - like wrapping the edges).

Agree with you in principle but it would be nice to actually see an actual install to assess how bad it really is.

Hopefully some brave souls on the forum will take RIVIAN up on the offer and share their photos/experience.

Regarding prices and variations across prices, I have been applying PPF to my vehicles for 15+ years. Trust me when I say this - you need a good installer who has experience working with PPF. They should be able to show you pictures of their work.

Sometimes, you will even find that experienced installers charge less because they are so experienced they have it down to science and are extremely efficient vs a low volume installer that requires a lot more labor hours because of inexperience.

I’m meeting with the local shop tomorrow. Not wrapping edges I could probably live with, but big cutouts around the badging is likely a no-go for me.
