Rivian announces: No more configurator builder upon reserving a Rivian

I made my R1S reservation yesterday, but it looks like they changed the setup so that you no longer build it and then pay for the reservation. Looks like I made my reservation just in time.

This gives Rivian the option to more easily change pricing/options/delivery timing without having to update people's reservations. This will help Rivian be more fluid.

Probably a smarter way to do things for the future, giving Rivian the ability to switch options (and prices) on the fly depending on what’s available. Hopefully prices don’t vary too much from when someone’s reservation is placed.

Honestly at $1k deposit you might as well stop taking orders. I know I wouldn't order a truck with an unknown future price for 3+ years in the future. I think the old way was better even at the higher price unless they are going to drop to a $100 deposit like others are doing.

I literally put an R1S reservation in yesterday. Was feeling bummed about the March 1st price increase on it but it’s worth it. Now I’m really happy we pulled the trigger.
