Fort Worth Projects Website Reports on Rivian's Plan to Build Parts Distribution Center

Looks like Rivian is streamlining their parts distribution with their recent move in opening service centers in Texas.

I don't know what this has to do with competing with Tesla in Texas.

There are certainly issues with parts distribution to service centers and independent garages, to say nothing of the logistics mess that is the Rivian gear store.

$9.9M seems a fairly small investment to set up a logistics center. Groundbreaking in April 2026 with completion near year end... Not going to have an impact anytime soon.

You might recall that Fort Worth offered Rivian a $221M deal in 2021 to build a factory there that fell through.

From a distribution stand point, DFW area is great for this as it is essentially the halfway between east and west coasts.

For being in a major metropolitan area, the logistics costs are much less than some of the other similar sized cities along the similar latitude.

Sad to say Rivian would likely be in a much better place today if they'd chosen that Fort Worth location instead of Georgia. I think proximity to the Savannah port via rail was probably the difference maker but clearly that project has caused significant issues for Rivians expansion plans.

I dont see how this ties to Tesla but anything they can do to help with service center turn around is a plus. I dont think 10million is enough to do much though.

Geographically, good central location to serve all contiguous states. Plus, close to any suppliers that are just across the border in Mexico.

Didn’t they open a distribution center on Kentucky several years ago? Does this supplement or replace that?

I"m guessing they realized they need a bigger footprint once they start pumping out R2s.
