Howdy all!

Another update from your friendly neighborhood Spi... Soonish Team!

First!

A lot of us have been having to pay Rivian $900 to replace to 2 sets of 12v batteries, something that we should be able to do ourselves. Or we have one other option in regards to an aftermarket option thats ready to go.

We didn't like that so... we created a battery post relocator that allows you to use any BT19BL-BS group battery with the Rivian post locations. If you have an early Gen1 vehicle you will need 2 sets, since you have 2 batteries!

Second!

Edit: We decided to kill the topolock line. The Rivian OEM charger just plainly stinks and the product is negatively impacting our brand due to the poor charging.

We are taking the rest of the TopoLocks no longer including the magnets and calling it the TopoMat. Looks better than the oem mat too.

As mentioned in the 12v thread, I ordered two sets.

I'm curious now what BT19BL-BS LiFePO4 batteries might now be compatible, if any, other than Ohmmu (who I haven't seen address the poor build quality photos from a couple years ago for their Rivian batteries).

What's fascinating to me is that, looking back at Ohmmu, they have this form factor and it's like half the price of the Rivian one they sell:

Are my eyes deceiving me?

I haven't found one. But I think the full throttle one looks best.

It apparently has to be the FT230L (not the FT230) to have the red and black terminals in the same position as the Rivian batteries - red on left, and black on right, while facing the battery from the front.

https://fullriverbattery.com/batteries/part-ft230l/

Edit: the FT230L is, I am told, not available in the US. They told me that there has not been the demand in the US for that battery in that configuration. I am having a hard time finding an available battery that has the red and black terminals in the same position as the OEM batteries.

What's the best option for 2024 Gen 1 single battery owners?

Mine goes in Tuesday for a replacement because it's still under warranty.

When does the warranty on that expire and when it does... what's the best aftermarket option to avoid annual battery replacements?

I'd say wait and see. The new set should last a year. After that... I'd buy whatever has the most AH.

So there's exactly one aftermarket battery that works?

Second!

I'm REALLY proud of this one. I went back to the drawing board, and redid my outline and design for our charging mats, but there are several of you out there who do not like removing OEM electronics to have faster charging. So we went out and created the TopoLock that adds magsafe locking to the OEM charger. It will keep your phone in place (2 of em even!) and keep your phone consistently charging. Note: Apple devices will still only be 7.5 Watts. (If you want faster... take a look at TopoCharge). We have had consistent charging results with Gen2 vehicles, but Gen1 has been really hit and miss. Honestly, don't bother with this on Gen1 unless you want your mat to look prettier. (I think ours looks better than the OEM one, and sits better)

Do all BT19BL-BS batteries have the same distance frot the post to the top of the battery? do your adaptors require washers underneath to elevate the adaptors on the post? Would love to see the adaptors on a battery side bt side with an OEM battery to compare, front and side views to compare. TIA.

Yes. The intention of group batteries is to have size, spacing and location of terminals to be the same. On the rivian side there is some play for installing but it's more about aligning.

Any idea why Gen 1 might not work? Did they put a stronger charger in Gen 2? If so is it possible to upgrade that too?

On another subject, would the magnets play havoc with credit cards if laid on top of them?

That topolock thing looks good. I think I might order that.
