Why did the R1T win?
Rivian has spent the last few years refining its flagship with little software updates here and there, but the result of its major update for the 2025 model year was the most transformative by far. Though it doesn't look like it from the outside, updated powertrains, improved software, new features, and more options at more price points mean the R1T is an honest-to-goodness all-rounder. There are now more trims to pick from, far more maximum range than before, and an easier-to-use interface. The R1T's inherent sharp handling and brisk acceleration from every trim, regardless of power output, make piloting this truck a joy. It isn't just a more competitive offering; it is simply the best electric truck you can buy, bar none.

What stood out?
The better question is what didn't stand out. If we had to pick one thing, it would be the updated truck's luxury ride and handling balance. We've already said there isn't a better-handling electric pickup on the road, and we wouldn't shy away from extending that comparison to gas-powered trucks too. But it's also plenty capable off-road thanks to clever all-wheel drive, short overhangs, and buttery smooth electric torque.

Feel really happy to have purchased that exact same truck in the pic - Blue Gen2 and now with the same range wheels (started with 22 dark and switched - will share range improvements if any soon).

Shoutout goes to all the Gen1 owners for their love and feedback to help Rivian to release Gen2 so quickly after Gen1.

Still wish Rivian was a bit more forthcoming on QuadMax info !
You never know, they could always rethink and pull it if not enough demand. By now they likely have some insight into the demand even as a "halo" vehicle. Dropping the quad motor test so early might have hurt more than helped.

It might have kept people who would have bought a Tri if there was no Quad announced. By the time the Quad actually hits the streets, there might be other options.

Same here! I feel oddly on the right side of (EV) history! Looked at EVERYTHING; GM, Ford, Tesla... Rivian was, by far, the very best of breed, and will only continue to improve!

I did the same and compared other brands including the Ram Rev. Ultimately, Rivian was my first choice and why I have one, considering what’s available in the market when I purchased.
Question is, anyone have thoughts about the upcoming Scout? I’ve been looking at it lately and it’s becoming more interesting. I like the UX they have from what I was able to see so far from reviewers that were at CES. There’s a lot to like about them.
Although, for my needs and ease of maneuverability, the Scout is a foot longer than the Rivian is. Which, makes it more difficult for parking lots and tight areas for maneuvering as a daily driver. I like the R1S for those situations better than the R1T, since I have one of each and actually enjoy driving the R1S more so for those reasons. ?

Super happy to see the R1T win.. but was sad that the R1S didn't win the SUV category.

What won SUV and how could R1S not win? I mean what is better?
Oh just looked, Toyota Grand Highlander? LOL.

Seriously, any gas car right now is a joke. Little explosions pushing down pistons to turn an axle? What are we in the 1800s?

That list should be all EVs and just stop the charade.

I'll wait to get too excited about any new vehicles from any manufacturer until they are out for a year or two. See how they are actually performing, and see how service is performing.

Toyota should switch their tagline to “Toyota: yesterday’s technology at today’s prices”.
