I found the ONE blind spot on my Rivian a few months back - the passenger rear side of the truck has a pretty crazy blindspot. I found it with a yellow parking lot bollard. Gotta love it. I also for the first time in my life got caught in a really nasty Colorado hailstorm. The shop has my truck for just over a month while she's getting all fixed up and purty again.
I needed a rental for my daily driving, but really didn't want to drive some basic rental for the month. I was always curious about the Hummer EV and decided to rent one from Turo.
All I can say is WOW Rivian has set the bar SO high. The Hummer is a piece of junk compared to the Rivian. I cannot wait to get my Rivian back. It is a much more thought-out vehicle and much better designed. The user interface in the Hummer is just absolute garbage compared to the Rivian's. Also a firm believer that we do NOT need Apple CarPlay (at least I don't) because I much prefer the seamless experience of the Rivian GUI.
The Hummer has a REALLY neat GUI (moon themed) but it's only half-baked. There's a very cool font, very cool design language, very cool user interface... on HALF of the user interface. It's really jarring seeing this really well designed cool moon theme and font, but only on half of the user interface. Just... half baked.
The cameras on the Hummer are also ABYSMALLY bad. Like a 2010 Toyota Corolla has higher resolution cameras than the brand new $110k Hummer EV. It is EMBARRASSING.
Oh, Also, the $110k Hummer EV doesn't even have auto-up/auto-down windows. They're all auto-down, but you have to hold them to roll them back up. Little thing, but seriously? On GM's "Moonshot" vehicle? Insane.
The ONLY thing that I do just absolutely love about it is the rear wheel steering. It is useful every single time you drive and makes parking a full size truck SO easy. I would LOVE to have a Rivian with rear wheel steering. Crab-Walk is completely useless though. It takes way too long to turn on/turn off and overall just isn't useful.
I have mentioned this.. but I CANNOT wait to get my Rivian back.
