Took delivery of an R1S today! A big thanks again to @Mygrain for posting information on R1 Shop listings out of Normal. Based on one of his posts mentioning over 100 available about a month ago, I reached out to my Guide before I had Shop access and my Guide found my exact configuration in Normal.
I'm still in love with the R1T I've had since 9/12/2022. The plan with this R1S is to drive as much as possible for the rest of year, have it serviced as needed, then ship it to our house in Kona. My R1T will continue to be my primary vehicle.
I actually still haven't driven the R1S outside of my driveway yet. My wife drove it home. I did examine the paint closely including inside the door jambs, as well as well as panel gaps and alignment. All seemed quite good. Ocean Coast is a perfect fit for a desert climate. I am absolutely in love with the Red Canyon color. Yes, there is more orange that what comes out in pictures, and that is perfect for me. I used to own orange and yellow cars. I prefer bolder colors. I remember thinking the audio sounded quite good via my wife's iPhone 14 Pro, bluetooth, and an Apple Music Spatial Audio track, but my ears will need to go back and forth between my R1T's Meridian Audio and R1S's Rivian Audio a lot more.
Only bad thing was that I found a large crack in the roof glass on the drive home. No one noticed it at delivery. I only noticed it looking around from the front passenger seat. It's in the front driver's side area. It's not visible from the top and it was difficult to see and photograph from the interior, too. I contacted the SC, my guide, delivery specialist, and service through the app right away. There is clearly no impact and I hope they'll take care of this.
Pictures are below. My R1T was scheduled for minor service tomorrow, just few customer satisfaction campaigns, so I conveniently left it up there and drove the R1S home. Still undecided about the parking and charging situation at home once the R1T returns. Might ship off our Model 3 to my in-laws place until the R1S is shipped to Kona.
