Yeah if people could get more pictures at the Denver event as well that would be great. It’ll be there too.

Rivian teased it during the R2/R3 press run and showed it during the Gen 2 R1 press runs too.

Eh, hard pass. Rivian's gear tunnel kitchen would have been amazing these last two years.

The gear tunnel kitchen would have been protected. The kitchen attached to the tailgate? That seems like it could be easily damaged with the slamming of the tailgate

I don't think it's even attached here. I think it's just placed.

I’m looking forward to seeing more. I like the tailgate design more than the gear tunnel, as I sometimes cook while charging. There’s never a guarantee the parking spot to the right will be open.

I’ve also come to rely on the gear tunnel for storing odd shaped things (canopy, chairs, etc) that would be hard to move to the bed with all my other camping gear.

I don’t know that I’d pay the Rivian brand premium for the kitchen, as my current setup is pretty good. I still like it better than the prior design that was less practical, albeit more instagram worthy.

That picture has me thinking how cool it would be if the burners were embedded into/part of the tailgate.

They would either need to be removable or have a protective cover so you wouldn't break it every time you put something heavy in the back, but something seamlessly integrated would be really cool.

I would be careful about anything fixed to the tailgate. When removing the spare, the wheel will hit the tailgate hard.

tbh, its kinda lame. it isn't designed anymore to fit snug in the gear tunnel and has some really cheesy/cheap looking string lights that go above it. and im sure its going to cost a lot more than equivalent 3rd party options.

If portable, wouldn’t a table sliding out of the gear tunnel be a better option? I see the benefit of a cooktop useable both on the tailgate of the T and the lower gate of the S but where’s the love for the gear tunnel? (Asking for a friend)

I agree. The bridge piece between the tailgate and the bed would prevent that from working.

Tbh, I'm still interested. I like to camp, but not 5k gear tunnel kitchen camping. This kinda fits my waffle/bacon camping tailgate Rivian lifestyle ?

Just missing a built in change table, and frunk pizza oven

I’m thinking Rivian saw the camp kitchens from @RANGE INDUSTRIES and @Thunderbolt Adventure and decided they needed to do something different. Those two 3rd party kitchens improved on Rivian’s original design and did it for a significantly lower price. Also, there’s the fact that the original camp kitchen design can only work on the slower selling R1T. This design can be used on current and future Rivian vehicles, as well as pretty much anyone else that has enough on board power.
