IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rivian Automotive, Inc. announced today that Arnhelm Mittelbach has joined Rivian as its first Georgia Plant Manager. This is a significant addition as Rivian continues to progress on its second manufacturing facility that will be focused on the next generation of Rivian vehicles. Mittelbach started his role on November 1, reporting directly to Chief Operations Officer Frank Klein.

Mittelbach is an experienced automotive leader with more than 20 years tenure at Mercedes-Benz, including Plant Manager in East London, South Africa, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Vans in Charleston, South Carolina, and a variety of manufacturing leadership roles across Germany.

“We are thrilled to welcome Arnhelm to the Rivian Operations team,” said Rivian’s Chief Operations Officer Frank Klein. “He brings tremendous experience in ramping up new factories and launching new products. Beyond his significant manufacturing prowess, Arnhelm also has a background in other areas, such as HR, making him a well-rounded leader to advance our team in Georgia.”

Good work is done by good people. I agree that it's great Rivian is finding accomplished people for its key positions. If only they did a little better with their communications positions. It's not at all a stretch to say I could do a better job.

Is this a good thing? Have you driven a MB lately?

Looks like Rivian is going for Ex-German car execs... He is the second one in the last few months, after the Porsche head of NA.

I have to think that Tony is a lightning rod on purpose. It's just so convenient that we get bad news/no news/vague news from him. And then positive/precise news from RJ.

IT's not the fact that Tony gives bad news that makes him bad. It's the fact that he gives news badly that makes him bad. His communications are more often than not vague or contradictory. He makes things worse with every email he sends out because of ambiguity or mixed messaging. It's like he tries to do corporate doublespeak to keep himself out of trouble but he doesn't realize that he's just saying two different things and that negates his message.

Any press releases Tony puts out are aggravating because he doesn't do it well.

I hope he does a better job than he did at the Sprinter Vans in SC. Mine had lots of issues and tons of recalls due to manufacturing quality issues. But welcome aboard.

Spent a week with a 2022 MB E300DE, diesel PHEV in Spain last month. I was impressed! Good efficiency, tech, styling and fit/finish.
