We're so excited to let you know that both our R1T gear-tunnel-based Camp Kitchen and our R1S Adventure Kitchen are available to ship across the contiguous 48 states.

When Rivian pulled the plug on their original Camp Kitchen, we were super bummed. We set out to make one for ourselves and quickly heard from many folks that they'd like one too. The R1T Camp Kitchen launched over the summer to much success! We had to wait to develop the R1S version until we could access a friend's SUV for measurements and test fits. (Many thanks to Darrel and CJ for letting Matthew climb around inside your vehicles to ensure the perfect fit!)

Here they are out in the world

How does the sled work? Does it slide out of either side? Can you use the sled alone as a shuttle? If so, can it be sold separately?

Hi! Yes, the sled is available separately. It is configured to slide toward the passenger side. We're also about to launch the kitchen without the sled for folks who've already purchased the gear sled.

Any difference in price when ordering the camp kitchen vs. separate orders for the sled and kitchen?

I think your product looks great and am considering it, but I'd be a sled purchase first and then a maybe on the full kitchen in the future - hence my question.

Nice design. Out of curiosity, was there a limitation that prevented the kitchen to fold out aft vs forward? Looks like the door is blocked and barring some sort of software option I'd imagine my kids denting the hell out of the door with the kitchen folded out:)

If it folds aft toward the bed, the risk seems to go away?

We haven't finalized the pricing on Just the Kitchen (without the sled) just yet. It will probably be a bit more to purchase them in two separate transactions, but not drastically more.

The shape of the gear tunnel makes for a perfect cantilever support when folded the way ours does. We don't find any interference with the door because we're not typically in the truck with the kitchen set up. Kids are encouraged to "go explore" when we're at campsite. :)

I had the same reaction, but then realized that the doors have a kid lockout for the interior handle - problem solved (I think?).

Great product, if you can work on shipping rates. I’m in AZ and it’s really expensive. Thanks.

Hey @Thunderbolt Adventure, do you have videos on the stuff you built for us to get more details? Just trying to understand more about the bed frame in the R1S and if it can be purchased standalone + how it stows away with the kitchen set, during a drive? ~$3.6k for the whole set for R1S seems expensive. Just my 2 cents, NOM given the hard work you put in.

Hi, thanks! We understand the shipping costs feel high and we've been working on them. I'm not sure if you looked at our shipping rates a while ago or just recently. We were able to find a different freight solution and have lowered them substantially in the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, this product is more like shipping a piece of furniture than a typical package.

My biggest complaint with the Rivian design too. It's possible to make it work the other way but it wouldn't work with this particular design. They are just using the bottom half as the support. The rear side of the tunnel is a lot more complex, where the front is a single slope.

We don't have a video for the R1S yet. But I can describe for you how the installation works. The kitchen cabinet utilizes the t-track in the back of the R1S and four camlocks to be secured. There are gas shocks that allow the whole unit to tip back (toward the front of the vehicle) so that you can access the storage space in the spare wheel well. The optional sleeping platform is made up of the perforated slats (which are hinged with the orange webbing you see in the photos) and the supports which are sized to make the sleeping platform level and even with the top of the kitchen cabinet. The supports are small enough to fit in the spare wheel well if you choose, and the slats can be folded in a variety of configurations (all on top of each other, two deep by three high, or some combination) and could be stored on top of the kitchen during transit or in other spots in your vehicle.

We wanted to create something that did not require you to give up seating space if you're traveling with a lot of people, kids, and/or dogs, hence the compact kitchen and the flexible design of the optional sleeping platform.

Feel free to ask more questions and we'll try to get a video soon!

Any options to sell plans and CAD files? I really like the design but would prefer to make some modifications and enjoy building my own.
