Yes once you get away from well traveled areas up here the charging infrastructure is sketchy at best, adding to that the fact that chargers have a very high percentage of under-performing or non-operational chargers.

So, ha ha on me. I started to write here that there might be a reason the DC fast charger network came to a grinding halt in the northeast corner of BC, where this story is focused. That's oil and gas country.

Then, I looked at PlugShare. Turns out there is a DC fast charger location under construction at a rest stop north of Fort St. John. So, BC Hydro appears to be committed to filling in this terrible gap in the northeast.

They should put the next one north of Fort Nelson. That would be a big short term fix for the problems these people encountered.

I looked at driving to Alaska from Denver in my R1T as an epic road trip next summer. It's the type of trip I'd love to do, but practically won't have the time for.

I've never been to the area, so I only know what I've seen on maps.

It seemed entirely doable going through Plugshare, albeit with some sketchy stretches. There was one day I'd only be able to go ~300 miles, as I'd be relying on RV sites with 30A plugs.

I did see some Plugshare checkins from an R1T in way-north Canada, so it has been done before.

Here's a good writeup from someone that did the trek in a Chevy Bolt.
