  1. Confirmed: R2 / R3 will have tow hitch

Great news. I was asking about it. I was pretty sure the R2 would have it, but with no mention of towing and no visual evidence of a hitch, I wanted confirmation. And, yes, that bike rack looks like a very solid approach to carrying several bikes on the back. Hopefully, they create more...
  2. R2 Reservations List Tracker 📋

Okay, so I have re-submitted the form. I think I was having a problem with Google on my first two attempts.
  3. Poll - Did you place your $100 R2 Reservation?

I agree. I would be gobsmacked if it didn't have a hitch. But, so far, no one can confirm it. Today, I was in a big lineup coming home from skiing. Brake. Clutch. Shift. Accelerate. Repeat over and over. I think I'm really going to like that one pedal driving!
  4. R2 Reservations List Tracker 📋

    Form submitted.
  5. Suddenly It All Makes Sense (The Infamous Laguna Beach Outdoor Permit)

We discussed this at the local reveal party. I had assumed that the three slots on the left were for the R1t, R1s and the cube van. The two slots on the right would be for a new SUV and a new pickup. Nope. I'm totally amazed that any company today can keep this type of development secret. The...
  6. Brentwood R2 Reveal Party

Don't you just love it when people respond to their own posts? Well, it was a fun event. The highlight, besides meeting some very nice people, was the R3 and R3X reveals. When RJ said there was one more thing, we were thinking 'here comes the small pickup'. Not so much! Anyway, I put my money...
  7. Poll - Did you place your $100 R2 Reservation?

I'm in on the R2. I have been wrestling with the short distance between the two roof racks. Concerned about my long kayak being held by roof racks placed too close together. I've been trying to find out if the R2 is going to have a trailer hitch. In all likelihood it is, but I have not found...
  8. Seventh R2 teaser photo!

I hope you're wrong about this. Those two racks in the picture look too close together to carry anything long. For me, with my kayak, that would likely be a deal killer. It's always possible I'm wrong about the distance between the two racks. I'll find out tomorrow!
  9. Brentwood R2 Reveal Party

I booked myself into the Rivian Reveal Party at the Vancouver (Brentwood Mall) Centre. Anyone else planning on going? The party starts at 9:30 am, Thursday, so I guess that is kind of tough for all you working types. I know that a notice about the party went out to all the Vancouver Electric...
  10. Sixth R2 Teaser Posted!

Booked myself into the local Rivian Reveal Party today. That should be fun chatting up everybody about electric vehicles. As of right now, my plan is to order the R2 at the party. Based on comments from Rivian, the teasers, and leaked specs, I see the R2 as being my best bet to get an electric...
  11. R2 Price, Specs, Dimensions leaked!! $47500, 0-60 3 sec, 330 miles range

If these leaked numbers are accurate, I am 99% sure that I will be in when they open the booking site. I did not expect to get an SUV version of my old Tacoma. So, losing some approach and departure angle was expected. Also expected to lose some ground clearance. I'm fine with the length. The...
  12. Fisker to be saved by...Nissan?

The potential for Rivian to survive through merger or buyout is one of the big reasons I continue to focus on this company's offerings. I'm not concerned about the possibility of ending up with a stranded asset. I am very eagerly awaiting Thursday's reveal. I fully expect to be joining the line...
  13. Fisker to be saved by...Nissan?

Agree. Fisker has some good ideas. That pass through on the Alaska is definitely the right approach. It's something that Rivian has to incorporate for the R2t. I would think that a quad cab with a small box and no pass through would have limited sales. Without a distribution setup to get...
  14. Found an entire parking lot full of Kandi K32 Pickups

Yikes! According to what I have in front of me from their website, Kandi offers a 20.7 kWh battery or a 50 kWh battery in the K32. The range is 50 miles on the small battery and 107 miles on the large battery. The top speed is 60 mph. It only has a J1772 charging port. They state that cooling...
  15. Poll - Do you plan to place R2 Reservation for $100?

I voted yes, first Rivian. For me, the R1 series is too big. I like the off-road aspects. But, no family, no friends, not even a dog! And, despite all that space, the R1t manages to strike out when it comes to my kayak paddle and perhaps my skis. Then, there's the cost. In Canada it's a big...
  16. BMW: EV’s are Dead, buy Hydrogen Fuel Cells Vehicles

All this talk about hydrogen is oil industry nonsense. Do the math, hydrogen consumes too much energy and money to produce. Transporting the stuff is a nightmare. That tiny hydrogen molecule is an escape artist. Everything that involves hydrogen requires a special solution. In Prince George...
  17. Range Loss in Extreme cold temperatures … Great Job, Rivian!

Calvin, you are breaking my heart with all those snow pictures. In the south of BC, we got whacked with a warm, very wet atmospheric river a couple of weeks ago. Our snow was blown away. There are some ski hills that have closed and others with really bad conditions. Enjoy your skiing!
  18. New R2 rendering based on patent images

The render shows roof rails. Fully expect Rivian to stick with the current design of roof racks. Maybe they will even be able to use the exact same roof racks. That would lower their costs by eliminating development of a new rack and increasing the production run for the existing racks.
  19. Rivian patents bed rack system w/ easy removal and storage

That T track is definitely interesting. I need to do some research to find out where I can get parts for it locally. Could be very useful in adding features to the Range rack.
  20. Rivian patents bed rack system w/ easy removal and storage

The Range rack is what I have in mind if I do circle back to the R1t. The appeal of the Rivian system is that it appears to be something that could be removed or installed fairly quickly. How long do you think it would take you to remove your Range rack? How long to install? Is it practical to...
