They announced this last week. Performance duals this year and regular next year. Some people are guessing that performance will be an allowable later upgrade, but a recent video with Munro raised the question of whether the non-performance might have cheaper internals in the dual that work perfectly for the use case but not for performance. This would reinforce the idea that producing performance duals is a different process that would be emphasized this fall. Of course it also makes the company more money so it could just be that — if you want a dual now you have to buy Performance.Makes it sound like they are only producing Performance Duals this year, so good to know I got more waiting to do.
Do you have a source on this? (Not doubting you, just haven't seen the announcement)They announced this last week. Performance duals this year and regular next year. [...]
My impression is that the push to convert Quad to DM Performance is the result of a supply constraint; "Hey configured pre-orderers, it's taking a while to get enough quads, so you can buy DM Performance sooner!"Any official word on manufacturing priority of dual vs quad? With a 3rd shift now perhaps both are rolling off the line in numbers.
Interesting. If that true then we’re likely to see a phasing out of quads, or a new quad drive unit design to support enduros. Bosch motors seem to be on the endangered list.it's taking a while to get enough quads"
It was in the emails people were getting; reported here in the latest thread on revised delivery estimates. People with Dual selected were notified that Performance Duals would be shipping through the Fall with the standard duals beginning to ship in 2024. That's the best I can do. It's out there though.Do you have a source on this? (Not doubting you, just haven't seen the announcement)
Could be like the binning of Intel processors for the K models. They announced this last week. Performance duals this year and regular next year. We have a dual motor R1S non-performance configured and our updated timeline is sept-oct 23.It was in the emails people were getting; reported here in the latest thread on revised delivery estimates. That would certainly be a data point against. Maybe it was R1T’s only? Sorry I can’t give more detailsWe have a dual motor R1S non-performance configured and our updated timeline is sept-oct 23.
