So a storm did this as I was at a stoplight with my family and the tank of a Rivian held its own against a 8 foot umbrella slamming against the car.

Saturday evening it happened, 1 hour later I called insurance (Erie) to file a glass claim (at the time I didnt see body damage) they set an appointment for August 8th and a emergency window wrap when ever I was free. I also called Rivian to see if they can do anything and they said since its something important they will let me know sooner rather than later.

Monday morning rolls around My Insurance Erie calls me and says they cancelled the safelite appointment and to contact Rivian for service to replace the glass and they will reimburse money due to the complicated nature of installing glass on a rivian (mainly the programming of windows etc).

Get a call on Monday morning (1 hour ago) Rivian has a glass window in stock and to come on in so they can replace it.

Moral of the story, call rivian even if you dont have rivian insurance. I may actually debate on looking into rivian insurance right now.

Recent storms did this

Dang Sorry man. Glad Rivian is on it. Maybe you need an Umbrella Policy!

Did that umbrella belong to a local business? You should file a claim with their insurance

It does, its a local taco truck, honestly its a $150 deductible and Id rather not have them have any issues as they are a small business but you better believe Ill be talking with them and letting them know to set their stuff up properly next time.

Brilliant!!! I nearly choked on my coffee reading this. If we had a COTD* you’d get my vote!

Sounds like some free tacos should be in your future at a minimum.

Oof bodywork that sucks. Glad the glass did it's job even though it cracked.
What triggered the dashcam video, was it automatic or you triggered it manually?
Someone nearly backed into me in a parking lot yesterday and my first instinct was to hit the puny horn for 1 second to trigger the video. Luckily the stopped before collision but the horn also triggered the driver to roll down his window and start yelling profanities. I just yielded him the right of way even though it was mine to cool him off plus I didn't want him behind me.

I got stuck in that storm on 270 and my R1S was strong and steady. Super glad it didn't get hit by a tree, but it did get a healthy does of hail. Really impressed by the performance though - especially in the sideways rain and driving wind.

That storm was awful! After it blew through Mount Airy I saw at least 5 neighbors who had large tree limbs down. Tore the flashing off my next door neighbors home.

It sucks for sure but as I'm sure you agree could have been worse. Both of mine were inside the garage thankfully.

Those umbrellas are heavier than they look trust me!

We just happened to be up in rural PA that day, enjoying a leisurely drive from Waynesboro (PA) up through the Michaux State Forest. Funnily, I was complaining to my wife as we were driving back that afternoon, "dang we're going to miss the storm" because I had a few buds of pollen stuck to the hood and was too lazy to wash them off myself. ?

Yes, I'm an idiot.
