We just took delivery (Normal pickup) on 6/30 of our long awaited R1S and it is just awesome! There really have been no significant issues of any kind, which I was worried about from some of the other posts out there. Ended up getting the exact config I was wanting (underbody shield, compact spare, OC) in R1 Shop so sped up delivery by about 8 weeks.

Quick comments:
  • Rivian was super responsive, guide was great, delivery day was perfect; just an A+ customer service experience
  • Comparing it to my wife’s Q7 with air suspension, yes It drives much more like a truck, but I love that so zero complaints.
  • This thing is really fast, you hit the pedal and you seriously need to hold onto your drinks. For a 7k lb. vehicle it is unreal what It is capable of from an acceleration standpoint.
  • Rivian Elevation sound system is awesome!
  • A/C compressor can be a little loud if you’re getting into it hot (120 degrees) but once it cools down so does the noise level. Honestly not a big deal at all.
  • I was on the fence between the 22” and 20”, really love the 20” look and highly recommend (Now I would probably say same thing if I went with the 22”)
  • Zero issues with the Driver+ to date
  • As this is my first fully electric vehicle the one-pedal driving takes a minute to get used to but once you do it’s great. Zero complaints. The biggest learning curve is getting into a parking spot as you’re used to just letting off gas to ”roll into” the spot but that is different with this so found myself short of where I needed to be quite a few times this weekend.
  • Sure there are a few little noises here and there but I think a large function of that is that it is an electric vehicle and they are not frequent
  • Getting Xpel PPF treatment done as Rivian is no longer offering direct as part of mfg process but they are honoring that pricing at the licensed local Xpel installers ($1500)

Bottom line, ignore the noise. This vehicle is seriously incredible, so impressed with everything about it.

Welcome to the land of satisfied Rivian Owners. Once you get used to the one pedal driving and parking, you'll love it even more. Enjoy!

Great review! I took delivery of my R1S (6/10) and 2.5k miles later couldn’t be happier. Nothing is perfect, but Rivian clearly did their homework and came out swinging with a sweet SUV!

Check your hatch on the passenger side for alignment.

Congrats! Got mine on the 29th and I agree. Wait till you get it off road. Great suspension for an large SUV and rolling through the woods so quietly is awesome.

Whats #1?
My R1S configuration. lol glacier white with ocean coast with 22” sport bright wheels. If there was one thing I could change about ocean coast it would be the headliner color. Wish it was black.

Thanks for sharing and many congratulations.

I still see front protection as an option under the configuration. They list this as a filter under R1 shop as well. Did they stop installing XPel at the factory? I have been waiting for R1S with front protection to appear in R1 Shop.
