Email just came from RIVIAN:

We've identified an issue that limits your ability to use your "phone as a key" functionality.

What should I do?
  • Drivers will need to carry another form of vehicle access (key fob, key card, key band) as these keys still have full functionality.
  • For now, avoid opening or using the Rivian app.
What should I do in case of emergency?
If you're experiencing an emergency, please dial 911.

If you need your vehicle remotely unlocked, please contact our Service Team at 855-RIVIAN5 (855-748-4265), we may be able to assist. Note that “phone as a key” will not function until this issue is resolved.

The Service team can also provide rideshare credits to impacted drivers.

How long do you think this issue will persist?
We'll continue to update you until the issue is resolved.

Just got the same thing! Feels like a day at work when our cloud based EHR goes offline and we are twiddling our thumbs all day unable to see patients.

Second time in a year this has happened. Glad I carry the card key in my wallet but still, annoying at best.
I always carry a card key with me. You never know when your phone might run out of battery, or something like this happens.

I was under the impression that PAAK was bluetooth? Will it still work to unlock/drive, just not remote into the truck?
same question here. I thought paak, for (un)lock, was based on the proximity. I'm surprised it goes thru their service.

Phew. Normally I will close out of my app regularly (I feel it saves battery? Especially at home) but today I left it open and it's still working.

Not closing it any time soon.

We just drove our truck home from our office and the phone as a key worked fine. We were able to unlock the truck and drive. We do carry the key cards as a backup.

I was just able to use PAAK without issue. Received the email from Rivian anyway so maybe they sent it to everyone whether you are affected by this or not.

Sounds like an ongoing security incident. That's more than just phone as a key....
It is a very strange thing to say avoid opening the app. And it's likely to make thousands of people open the app. lol

I was just able to sign into the website (wasn't able to do that earlier, either). Hopefully the app will be back up shortly, as well.

For something to be down this long, it has to be a bit more complex than "reboot the servers". Wonder if all the new registrations overloaded their login/authentication system? Waiting for Tony C. to spin this as a good thing. ?
