They're making a push to drive sales into double digits:

(And I know the "only nine sold" report has been debunked, but not by much).
We went on a ski trip to France (cheaper than going to nearly any ski destination in the US) and the car rental agent asked if we wanted chains. We were renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle so I declined. He said it would be a good idea based on our destination and urged me to reconsider so I took...
You're always free to buy from the competition. It's a rare startup that has a tight rein on costs. The already-expensive Lucid lost a $hit-ton on every vehicle. Dyson canceled their EV project because they couldn't make a profit selling it for under $200K (ditto Apple). The cost of...
I'm calling BS on the building management. ICE vehicles in the 1960's were plenty heavy and the ICE Hummers and current large pickups (Dodge Ram, etc.) are as heavy as the Rivian.
We have a weekend house about an hour away from the city (about 60 miles). 45 of those miles are highway and we use conserve mode once we hit the highway. In over a year of driving there's no noticeable wear effects on front tires. We have 22,000+ miles on the tires and they still look great.
I have 2 Autel 50A chargers. Amazon had great pricing on these a while back (around $400). Well constructed and work flawlessly. They can even be used with RFID cards to control access.
Same chemistry, different levels of efficiency. As batteries start nearing end-of life in larger numbers the recycling/refurbishment businesses become more financially viable, ditto 3rd party solutions. 10 years is a pretty long time as adoption increases and technology advances.
A lot can happen in 10 years. I've posted about this elsewhere but when we bought our first Prius in 2005, the cost of a replacement hybrid battery was $10,000. When we finally had to replace it, in 2017, the cost at the dealer was about $3,500. I ended up going with a 3rd party refurbished unit...
Pretty brave. We were in Iceland recently and about 90% of the rental cars were Teslas. Made sense in a country that's compact and has a solid EV charging infrastructure, but even then I wouldn't want to bet my vacation on it.
Is it compatible with Tesla-branded hydrogen stations? Oh, wait....
The wife and I signed up for the Honda fuel cell vehicle waiting list at an auto show about 20 years ago. The program died well before they hit our state and the weak link has always been sourcing fuel for the fuel cell. We're...
