    Is this an R2?

Looks like a regular R1T to me. They are not likely to have any R2 out and about with minimal camo like that.

All purpose mode drops to low when cruise is set

You have the ride height set to Auto mode. It'll drop to low when you're sustaining speeds above 50 mph or so, regardless of cruise control in my experience. If you don't want it to drop ride height at highway speeds, just turn off Auto mode.

    Headlight Out

The picture is helpful to the technicians for parts and time planning. I fix things for a living and there's no way I can just trust a customer diagnosis, even for simple issues, and I often have engineers reporting the problems to me. A picture of the part failure or a screenshot of an error is...

Check your shocks. Mine are leaking after 10k miles / 9 months.

It's often normal to have a small amount of seepage from shocks, and so if they both looked like the left shock, I'd say it's probably not a defect. A very small amount of fluid residue can collect dirt and look like your left shock. That right shock definitely looks defective though.

How to store a R1 at healthy SOC% for months?

Storing a car for a matter of months won't hurt the tires. They might develop flat spots, but those will roll out on the first drive after storage and the tires will be fine. This is based on my experience storing cars over winter.

Tripped Charging Circuit Breaker During Update

DC fast charging is specifically forbidden during an update, but being connected to a L2 charger is supposed to be ok. I've done this before at least a time or two. The truck controls the charging, so if it's resetting, the charger is idle. Nevertheless, I will be disconnecting the truck before...

Tripped Charging Circuit Breaker During Update

No. It tripped again about an hour later. The next day, same thing, I reset it and it tripped after about an hour of charging. Today I installed a new breaker and have been charging for 3 hours so far without interruption.

Tripped Charging Circuit Breaker During Update

My R1T updated to 2023.38 last night. The truck was charging at 48A from my Rivian wall charger at the time, and while the update was in progress (or immediately after), it stopped charging due to an error and it suggested unplugging and plugging back in. I initially did that, but then the truck...

    Slow down before shifting

I've gotten dyslexic while wanting the windshield washer fluid and pressed the park button a couple times while cruising down the highway. Terrible grinding sound, indeed!

CybErtRuCk so bad they had a custom tarp ready for when if broke down (via electrek)

Validation testing continues through the life of any modern vehicle. Especially in this age, software improvements in particular are tested and released months and years after a vehicle enters production. One direct experience I have with this is when I dated a GM engineer, she was still...

CybErtRuCk so bad they had a custom tarp ready for when if broke down (via electrek)

It's standard practice for test cars of any OEM to carry a fitted car cover for breakdowns and other parking. This isn't a Cybertruck thing, just a normal test car thing. I work in the auto industry myself. It's normal to see test cars covered even when they're parked in the company's own...

    First Time Towing

I towed a car trailer about 1800 miles round trip with my R1T. I estimate the total trailer weight was 5000-5500 pounds, and I just used a regular $30 ball hitch without any issues. For just one trip, I wasn't excited to spend $300-400 on a weight distributing hitch. If you'll be towing that...

My new Rivian charger for my RIT max charges at 12 amps even though it's connected to 60 amps

I haven't had this issue, but I've heard of others experiencing it. Here's one similar thread. I wouldn't accept the advice you got from that phone call and would continue troubleshooting. Try resetting both the charger and truck. Try changing the dip switches to a different setting according to...

I towed a car trailer over 1800 miles with my R1T

My truck did recognize the trailer and went into tow mode. I basically had trailer brakes and the left brake/signal light, and that was it. No running lights or right brake/signal light.

I towed a car trailer over 1800 miles with my R1T

Power plants really aren't all that efficient, which is Tahoe Man's point. Many fossil fuel plants are still less than 40% efficient, not too dissimilar from an ICE. That isn't the R1T's fault, but for people buying an EV with the "save the planet" mindset, it makes less sense than they might...

3,880 mile trip across and down the Rockies ⛰️ R1T performed flawlessly

Cool trip! I had a recent trip myself with a similar first leg, going from Canton MI to Kearney NE with my Corvette in tow. Charging along I-80 was pretty easy. I got caught in a small hail storm myself but haven't noticed any dents from it, fortunately. Were you happy with your window tinter...

I towed a car trailer over 1800 miles with my R1T

That's a poor comparison. The inability of an ICE truck to extract all of the energy from its fuel doesn't carry over to an electric truck. That's kind of the main advantage of an EV, there's much less wasted energy.

I towed a car trailer over 1800 miles with my R1T

It wouldn't have been much different. I charged a handful of times during the day and got the experience. I had to drop the trailer a few times and it's really not a big deal, the whole process only adds about 5 minutes to the stop and I was a n00b with the trailer. It's inconvenient, but this...
