  1. Are supercars POINTLESS? Corvette Z06 vs Rivian R1T: DRAG RACE (by Carwow)

I will say that as someone who loves to flog lightweight cars through canyon roads, the R1T is capable of carrying *way* more speed than I'd have thought possible even on the stock AT tires. Only really did it once and had to back off because it was mildly terrifying knowing how much it weighs...
  2. Are supercars POINTLESS? Corvette Z06 vs Rivian R1T: DRAG RACE (by Carwow)

If all you enjoy is going fast in a straight line, then perhaps they're "useless". But a 7000 lbs truck simply can't do what a sub-3000 lbs sports car, supercar, hypercar, etc can do. My Alfa Romeo 4C weighs under 2500 lbs and currently has around 300 hp / 350 tq and is an absolute riot...
  3. 2026.07 Software Update notes - features & fixes coming

Mild warning to anyone who cares...this update somehow reset my elevation display and I'm not happy about it. I had a range of around 400ft to over 12k ft and after the update both min and max were set to the current elevation and it started re-tracking from there. I did NOT hit the reset...
  4. Rivian dropped my truck!

Gotta ask the question since you mentioned accessories that would be incompatible with a new truck. Did you have side steps or rock sliders on your R1T, @NoCo2? If so, which model? Could explain why some service centers have rejected lifting trucks with them on, insisting on removal.
  5. V2 Powered Tonneau Cover ($3300 installed) now listed in Rivian Gear Shop

I could understand their sentiment when practically every vehicle was still under warranty even partially to make sure as issues arose they were aware of them to try and fix it on the line as they go. But now that so many vehicles are going out of warranty by miles or time, it really seems like...
  6. 2026.07 Software Update notes - features & fixes coming

I hadn't realized they ever used the wiper heaters at all...didn't seem like it. But I tried not to use the front defrost much since as you said it'll cook you alive. Every other car I've had with a heated wiper park turned them on with a separate button. The rear defrost was usually tied to...
  7. Rivian Service policy - no alternative transportation unless vehicle kept for 48 hrs

Look at the cluster of cameras and such top-center of your windshield (from the outside). If the round one is bubbled like this instead of looking totally clear, then it's likely they didn't reinstall the rain sensor properly. It's probably a 30 min repair. I had mine done in late 2024 after...
  8. Toll Transponder Positioning

Weird. I haven't had a problem with a sticker-tag here in Colorado mounted on the bottom-left of the windshield.
  9. Employees receiving R2 first. Does this forum have any Rivian employees? Will/Can they answer questions?

You can joke all you want, but he made it very clear that he does have a very early R2 reservation this time...like the minute the site opened.
  10. Colorado WTB - 22/23 R1T under 52k miles

Rivian is selling a used R1T Dual Performance Max down in the Springs with 33k miles. https://rivian.com/configurations/inventory/pre-owned/6c7f9f7aea1f8bb7f9cc037e2a215ef0/
  11. Colorado Checking In

There are usually a few Rivians that show up for the Cars and Coffee in Lafayette on the first Saturday of each month. Otherwise, if you're not in Rocky Mountain Rivian Club, they have events periodically. Last one I did was a drive through Rocky Mountain Arsenal NWR.
  12. Grab Handles for R2

Right...but the bottom of the R2 will be thicker regardless.
  13. Grab Handles for R2

Ground clearance isn't a good metric for the entry height. EVs most often have the batteries in the floor of the vehicle, so the ground to entry floor is going to be higher if everything else was the same. Similarly, ground clearance is going to be measured differently as the bottom of EVs is...
  14. Rivian Assistant is here!! (Update: not quite yet) (Update 2: it's here!!)

One of the things I'm hoping for is the ability to change vehicle settings buried in the settings menu like being able to turn on/off the Lane Keep Assist (LKA). The LKA is a bit overly aggressive, but I leave it on as a minor guardrail if I have to interact with the center screen when highway...
  15. R2 Executive Interviews - Software, Future, Design: RJ Scaringe, Wassym Bensaid, Jeff Hammoud (by Out of Spec Kyle)

Good video...always fun to see execs sharing information and how passionate they are about what they do. I did notice that RJ was very composed throughout most of the interview, but he got very fidgety when the question about the VW JV came up...started messing with the main screen seemingly...
  16. WSJ: Tesla Faces Expanded U.S. Probe Over Self-Driving Performance in Poor Weather

As much I may personally not care for Tesla's methods, I was quite impressed with their ADAS abilities on a snowy/ice surface in the Out of Spec testing at the track recently. That doesn't say anything about how it would perform as visibility decreases with actual snow falling, but when I...
  17. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Literally the only reason I want more range is for towing, for everything else, my Gen1 Quad Large has been great. It could use better thermals so it could charge faster, but that's about it. Right now, it will hold 200-220 kW for 15 minutes and onboard 50 kWh in that time...that's great, now...
  18. PAAK got worse recently?

No issues on Gen1 here, but it does seem to be even more overly sensitive now as it frequently unlocks in my garage and way too early as I walk up to it. On the other side, it lets me get WAY too far away before finally locking and I'm not thrilled about it.
  19. Subaru Dies Before My Number Comes Up in the R2 Queue

Since the Outback has served your needs well, probably the new Subaru Trailseeker, but I'm not sure when it will actually be released either.
  20. Comma Ai / Comma 4 drive on unmapped roads (video)

If Rivian had used their own camera module instead of a really basic Mobile Eye unit on Gen1, they could've done at least this much in-house. But they didn't and they claim they don't have low enough level access to the hardware to do it easily, so they won't.
