  1. Battery Report after 3 years / 50K miles (R1S Launch Edition)

It’s pretty truthful… …if you know how to cut through their marketing. OP looks to be seeing around EPA rated range for their config - 20ā€ ATā€˜s on a quad gen1 large pack. Rivian get funny by blending drive modes for their ā€˜headline’ figures - eg the 371 mile ā€˜rating’ for a gen2 tri with 22ā€...
  2. Rivian AI šŸ¤– bugs

I would separate the model from the harness here. Rivian absolutely should and does own the harness: vehicle state, command execution, safety boundaries, permissions, context, memory/chat retention, and the handoff between local and cloud paths. That is where Rivian-specific differentiation is...
  3. Rivian spinoff Mind Robotics valued at $3.4 billion in new funding round

That actually makes the governance question more concrete. If Mind is already part of Rivian’s production environment, then this is not just a theoretical future concern. The relevant questions are whether Rivian is paying Mind, whether those terms are arm’s length, whether they were approved...
  4. Extra warranty miles for distance to service center.

No - and I dont think there should be any expectation - as you are the one driving the R1. Full context - I asked for similar in my R1T - as at one point of the 6k miles on it (at the time). ~3K had been done by Rivian whist in for warranty work. I didn't expect to get a positive outcome, but...
  5. Rivian spinoff Mind Robotics valued at $3.4 billion in new funding round

There is another angle here that is worth separating from the broader automation debate. The issue is not whether industrial robotics is useful. It clearly could be. The governance question is whether Rivian shareholders are fully protected if Mind Robotics becomes deeply tied to Rivian’s...
  6. Winter Range Effects in Midwest

I mostly park our R1’s outside here in STL - as other have said it’s the cold starts that really take the toll on range. As a result for very short trips (ie ~5 miles or so) can see a massive impact, but by the time we are actually going somewhere I’d put it at around 15-25% impact during Jan/Feb.
  7. Confirmed: Voice recognition local processing for R1 (Gen 1 and Gen 2). The R2 will have a local LLM.

I think you’re conflating two separate Rivian claims. Rivian’s R2 media material places the 200 sparse TOPS figure under the R2 infotainment compute module. RAP1 is described separately as part of the Gen 3 Autonomy Computer, which Rivian rates at 1600 sparse INT8 TOPS (using a pair of RAP1...
  8. Confirmed: Voice recognition local processing for R1 (Gen 1 and Gen 2). The R2 will have a local LLM.

where did you find that? I’ve only seen some stuff for RAP1 - not the updated infotainment system.
  9. Confirmed: Voice recognition local processing for R1 (Gen 1 and Gen 2). The R2 will have a local LLM.

ā€œLocal LLMā€ does not mean much beyond marketing unless the implementation details are clear. ā€œ200 sparse TOPSā€ raises more questions than it answers. At what precision? BF16, INT8, INT4? What sparsity format? Does the runtime actually use it? Most normal LLMs are dense, and I am not talking...
  10. More R2 models coming and R2X possible says RJ Scaringe (Reuters News)

Hasn’t the R3 always been a R2 variant? And on an old investor deck I think there was another thing ā€˜under wraps’ for the midsize platform.
  11. Question on our audio systems....

I’m pretty sure this is it - the number of times they’ve had my truck on the operating table, I suspect that this is another bit of fallout from that. Pretty pissed though as I got gaslit by the SC that they couldn’t hear anything (though everyone else can) - and then won’t stop talking about atmos.
  12. Question on our audio systems....

I also suspect that there may be some build issues - or some weirdness going on the DSP. I'm working on improving this thing I threw together last night: https://github.com/puppetsock/audio-soundstage but it was super helpful today to help show how the front door speakers are out of phase, no...
  13. VW becomes Rivian's largest shareholder, overtaking Amazon

  14. Sound (partially) out in front door speakers - Gen2 Premium Audio

As somewhat expected the SC 'cannot reproduce' after trying a playing atmos(sigh) tracks etc - and also report they cant hear 'rattling, gargling' etc - despite having read this thread - hey folks! Anyway - trying to be more useful, I spent 10 mins vibing up...
  15. Rivian Gear Spring Sale

Unless you just spent them all on autonomy+ :) I wonder if we will see updated crossbar mounts on the R1 soonish - somewhat suspicious that a sale indicates they want to offload stock prior to a refresh of some sort. I remember a time when the crossbars were less than the GDP of most well...
  16. Gen2 Premium Audio soundstage issue?

Tried them all (Soft, hard, let it sleep) and two software updates (maybe three-I forget, and not sure if the last ā€˜double tap’ really counts :) ). Edit - Just realized I'd made another post about this, org im a doofus...
  17. Gen2 Premium Audio soundstage issue?

I’m looking for advice on an audio issue in my Gen 2 Tri Motor R1T and trying to work out whether this is a known Gen 2 premium audio behavior, a software issue, or something specific to my truck. I have a couple of (Gen1) Rivians for comparison, and neither has this issue: The symptom is that...
  18. Q1 2026 Earnings Results. Georgia Plant Capacity Increased to 300K Vehicles!

There’s also a ā€˜mass market’ or similar thing that was on the old slide deck with a bunch of rendered cars under rendered drop cloths?
  19. CEO RJ Scaringe gets $403M Pay Package

I don’t think that follows. Legal entitlement is the floor. Governance judgment is the question. RJ is legally entitled to receive whatever the approved package provides. I’m not arguing otherwise. ā€œIs he legally entitled to it?ā€ is a contract question. ā€œWas it necessary, well structured...
  20. CEO RJ Scaringe gets $403M Pay Package

Urg - I'm gonna reply, even though I kinda dont want to but you know: I think a lot of folks here are more right than wrong, but we’re mixing a few different arguments. Yes, Rivian would not exist without RJ. That is obviously true. He founded it, built it, raised the money, got real...
