I agree. I am actually amazed Rivian was able to get this efficiency number using any of EPA testing cycles. This seems to be what they submitted to EPA. We will see what independent testing gets in mixed driving scenarios.
I don't see why it would be standard. I am sure it will be at least $3k option. Less than R1S interiors, but still pricey.
I got a feeling the margins are going to be in the option pricing. Tesla paint/interiors are high. I don't see Rivian being any less, most likely more expensive.
95kwh w/ 87.9kwh usable equates to 7.5% buffer. So 75kwh battery could be 69.4kwh usable capacity using same buffer.
345miles/87.9kwh = 3.95 m/kwh (standard large rwd)
3.95 x 69.4kwh = 274 mile range
So it does math out almost exactly to their base model range est. They could pull a Tesla...
Yes, all other specs are same as 87.9kwh pack. You would think base would also be lighter via smaller pack. Having same hp/tq the 0-60 should then be better. Battery Usable just says "TBC" because that haven't figure out how much capacity to lock(this is old Tesla move).
Customers hoping for...
Seeing embargoed R2 spec sheets that were given to press prior to today, they did show 265miles for base R2. Rivian definitely saw feedback online yesterday and changed base to 275+.
Just a guess...but the base model could just be a software locked battery pack. Allowing them to change...
I still have doubts about the 3.75 m/kwh. Real world tests will be interesting.
Rivian has been known to use different EPA tests(5-cycle vs 2-cycle), to get their desired results on various trims.
There is the Jeep Recon that is coming this year. Maybe the closest competitor in EV category to the R2.
Starting mid $60k. But like most Jeeps it will get deep discounts. Specs are almost identical to R2 Perf.
They do look upscale. Really interested in seeing the margins on the R2.
Just a guess, but I bet the options are on the high side and that is where the money will be made.
I guess it depends on pricing delta. But it is a lot of items to give up for $2k+.
Premium interior
Ventilated front seats
Heated rear seats
Premium audio
Rear drop glass
Matrix LED headlights
Tow hooks
Depends on option pricing. 20" AT on R1S is $3700 and paint colors range from $2k-$3000.
It is possible...$58k + $1.5 + $3.7k + $3k = $66.2k (+ fees/taxes)
If option pricing lines up with R1S, you could go over $70k OTD in high sales tax states. It helps $2500 Autonomy+ is included on LE...
That is on the actual site. You can click on various trims under "Explore the lineup" and then their wheel options.
The Perf is the only one that has EPA ranges for both wheel/tire options.
The Standard and Premium don't have EPA ranges for optional wheel/tire, it just says estimate.
Yeah they saw the feedback online from the leaks. Every other leak was accurate, but that. They definitely changed it.
My guess is the base R2 is still very much in development.
It also now says "around" $45,000.
Post #2 of this thread. Look under optional. All Terrain is only under Performance.
Maybe Performance is only considered worthy, since it has all the off-road drive modes.
