Under Driver Assistance Improvements, what is an “electrical accessory” that is a “vehicle attachment that doesn’t have an axle and isn’t directly supported by the ground”? Something that connects to the tow hitch, requires electrical power, but has no wheels; what would that be?
And then the...
If only those “self cleaning” cameras could handle driving into direct sun…but they can’t. Yet a human with proper sunglasses can.

I tried to make that a link but the forum software says the “video does not exist. I know it does because I can view it in my...
Sure that makes sense; don’t fix things that are easy to fix.

Elon has said FSD need to be many times safer than the average human driver, and currently FSD is orders of magnitude worse.
Elon has said multiple times something to the effect of “Since humans navigate the world with eyes and a brain cars should be able to do the same with cameras and a computer” as his reason for not using lidar, radar, and ultrasonics and for promising, every year for 6+ years, that Tesla FSD will...
As a long time Tesla owner I would like to let Rivian owners reading the post by @lpez210 know that using a steering wheel weight to trick the car into thinking the driver’s hand is on the wheel and then also not watching the road is a very bad idea and Tesla does not endorse it. It’s...
Fabulous! My wife and I have watched all three “Long Way” series and loved every one. I had been thinking that Charley Boorman’s injuries precluded him from doing any more long rides, but apparently not. And they are riding vintage bikes.
AppleTV says “Coming soon 2025”.
Yes, when I ordered my Alto in 2016 the waitlist was well over a year. I think now it is much shorter.
Safari Condo still does not have any dealers in the US as far as I know. I drove from California to Abbotsford B.C. to take delivery in 2018. Ironically, I now live in Vancouver just 60km from...
Hoping to get an R2 in 2026 to replace my Model X which I use to tow a Safari Condo Alto F1743 (about 2200 lbs fully loaded, full kitchen and bathroom, queen size bed, 2 person dinette, added 735W solar on roof, 600AH LiFePO batteries). It will be interesting to compare energy usage numbers...
Apologies, my mistake, thanks for posting that photo. I took another look at the Rivian website R2 page to confirm.
Hoping that Rivian will simultaneously launch the R2 in Canada and the US so I can exercise my reservation option in 2026.
I have one of those as well and it is very useful..
Thanks for your post and glad to hear you are still camping; that’s a nice looking setup and looks like it meets your needs.
I went to the Vancouver show today. The R2 and R3 were not there. I was told that they were “damaged in transit” and could not be shown. Very disappointed to miss them!
Yes, that video was filmed while the car was traveling northbound on the 280 between Palo Alto and San Mateo.
Happy to see the first Rivian police vehicle. Long term it should save that department money compared to a big ICE Car.
I have not closely followed Rivian’s driver assistance capabilities over the years, but reading this thread it seems some people believe that the company is still using MobilEye and it remains part of the new Enhanced Highway Assist package just introduced. Is their proof for that belief...
(Not a Rivian owner, yet) I thought that the Rivian in-car nav showing charging stations would only show Superchargers that are compatible so the driver won’t try to navigate to a non-compatible station?
Of course that assumes the driver is, you know, thinking…
It has a manufacturers plate. It is a Rivian vehicle. And it is probably mapping the road, not testing lidar with the idea of at some point adding lidar to the production line.
