I'm less forgiving of poor quality at this point. Rivian's had 5 years to figure this out. Maybe there is pressure to get vehicles into the hands of customers by the end of QTR 2 as promised to their shareholders, but this annoying crap does nothing but reinforce people's concerns of poor...
As an early (March 2022) R1T owner, I've been interested in the R2 given my goal to "downsize". Yesterday, I was skeptical going into my Demo drive at the Caledonia (Grand Rapids, MI suburb) center. I fall into the classic love-hate relationship with my Launch Edition R1T. Love what it can...
I just signed the petition. It's good to be part of S.A.U.S.A.G.E. My bluetooth connection is pretty good, but the sound quality is not like the early days (pre-CONNECT +) when their Apple Music APP was free. The sound seemed much better, making better use of the Meridian system. No way...
Agreed. Upload pictures in your service ticket. My '22LE R1T was sagging intermittently and I was worried it would be "within spec" when at the service center. The Caledonia (Grand Rapids, MI) service center was (and always has been) terrific. They set up my appointment so they'd be "pretty...
Definitely worth checking with your electricity utility for possible rebates. Consumers Energy in MI gave me a rebate for 90% of what I paid for Tesla's Universal Wall charger that has been flawless with my R1T.
I love my early '22 Quad (3xxx), but would trade it in if I could get greater reliability and "ruggedness" in an R2....think 4Runner but no ICE. The R2's standard suspension and manual charge port door should help, but still too many failure points for "luxury items" eg. powered frunk, door...
My first winter ('22-'23) here in Michigan with fairly new stock AT's and before the software update that included "snow mode" was a bit dicey, particularly in light/moderate snow or ice. It's what prompted me to get a second set of wheels with proper snow tires (Firestone WinterForce LT)...
I did a similar trip in my Gen 1 Quad and if you're going to take the interstate, your route on I-90 is much better than 70 or 80, at least for scenery and traffic. The Electrify America chargers en route were surprisingly reliable (16 months ago). During the whole trip I wished my dog were...
The service center in Caledonia, MI (Grand Rapids) is exceptional. Excellent communication and sincere effort to get your vehicle fixed the first time. Their only limitation is the centralized scheduling system used by Rivian. I'd rather work directly with the service team than get these...
I also charged at Strongsville, OH yesterday. Seemless, although the APP and Rivian's navigation map have the chargers on the wrong side of the restaurant. They're on the east side of Charley's. The PlugShare APP has it right (embarrassing, Rivian).
Moving next month from Metro Detroit to Kalamazoo. Sure hope they hurry up and open the Grand Rapids service shop, as my Mar'22 R1T has needed/still needs fixes on the little stuff. Overall, love the truck and so glad to get rid of the Tesla Model 3 that felt too detached from the road and...
I've had three separate causes of wind noise on my early R1T ...30xx.
1) trim on the glass triangle as mentioned above
2) Driver's window didn't close 100% (just 99%) and left a tiny gap between upper window and the seal (little issue with huge noise)
3) body-color panel separating top of...
The Michigan service team is way understaffed with just two technicians. My service appointment for a driver's window that got out of it's "groove" was pushed back, and then they told me to drop it off but that it may be a week before anyone touched it. I chose to hang on to the truck and now...
For non-safety repairs, it's a 3+ month wait in Michigan. Nice crew at the repair shop, but woefully understaffed. I was prepared for the glitches of a new vehicle, but Rivian likely overestimated the quality and reliability of their vehicles' many parts. They need more technicians.
After three months, range is better (maybe warmer weather). Recent trip of 304miles (with 25 to spare) going 60-70mph in Conserve mode and some headwinds on the AT 20's. This is much better than my 2018 Model 3 .
I've also had the "chirping" sound from the front since I got the truck. Most noticeable over small bumps. It sounds like the suspension is loose (like on a 30 year old work truck), even though the suspension feels tight. It's subtle but noticeable. I'm in for service in late August and will...
Agree with loud AC compressor noise. Also in MI for first hot day (97F) and the AC was the loudest I've ever heard. OK at cooling (not great), but OK. Vent position and adjustment are the worst part of the vehicle (for me). Very annoying to try to position the vents, only for some computer...
