So my (Gen2 owner) feed today was 100% R2. New kid in the block getting all the attention, and time for Gen2 to be like what Gen1 felt just 2yrs ago. Feature delivery will slow down, sales volume will be down as well. Not complaining - I have been on that experience with the Model S too :)...
as others have mentioned - on our MY and M3 frunks (not powered), we don't use it at all - not worth the hassle - it requires multiple tries to close by pressing right at the center etc - discourages almost anyone to "not even try". But on the R1T, the powered frunk is used by all (kids, wife...
Why is the stock going up now? (Not that I am complaining 😂 - except should have bought some more at $12)
- June 9th delivery approaching
- electrek report of impressive efficiency
posting same issue as original posts, UHF disappeared sometime into the drive and then only returned after a stop & off. There was no warning of not taking over promptly.
Same thing has happened more than 2-3 times already - all within the Bay Area freeways where it has always worked in the past...

You are right - those are key internal design decisions that should positively influence the customer-facing aspects that I think I am capturing in my list - that customers will use to compare with other offerings.
Tesla (& Apple etc) have those internal architecture advantages that translates...
all great points. To sum it up - for my own digestion, for rivian to become a strong player (& growth stock), ie appeal to broad market segments globally:
(Not in any particular order)
1. strong SW player (ease of use)
2. strong AI player (autonomy)
3. range and speed of charge (e.g. 800v, 15...
Something that institutional investors know and hence selling, but retail investors (like some of us) don’t?
I am not reading any bad news on early R2 quality or volume or cost issues.
Very true that Rivian's focus on "adventurous forever" fits some of us so well we are happy to let go of somethings we might be very used to (like the FSD).
For Rivian to get to 100/200/300K R2s / quarter, which is what Model Y is doing, and the best other EV(Nissan Leaf during it's golden...
oh perfect - thanks - I should RTMF :). Will give this a try later today. wonder soon wife finds me missing at home because I am sitting in the car talking endlessly to a smart female - that's trouble :CWL:
Great inputs from others - thank you for sharing. Increasing my learning fast without trying everything myself. Here is another input/observation/possibility to improve:
- I am used to perplexity on my phone carrying on conversation for 5-10 or more minutes if I wanted to have back and forth...
We all know it is easy to misread, and misrepresent in the most insensitive of media - the forums. You know what you are doing, and some may agree and some may not. It works for you, and I think that is enough. For me, that mode doesn't work and I am ok with that. It's all good.
But I think...
As another motorcycle rider, I agree with @SwampNut 's assessment of how to react in yellow - running a yellow is much safer than trying to stop. Similarly, not being the first or fast to drive/ride out as soon as light turns green is also important for me - many distracted drivers are still...
I got the update notification (gen2, connect+ subscription, autonomy-paid), update is tonight - but truck is in service station for a minor work. :(.
wish the assistant worked through my app “hey rivian, find a way to unlock the service station gates, pick me up so we can chat up a...
passionate discussions, I am sure some not owning either platforms are benefiting from the knowledge.
Current Rivian ADAS works like Tesla's AP/EAP (without FSD), does not recognize traffic lights e.g. so I HAVE TO be ready to intervene. And I don't like that - because I am used to how Tesla...
And it’s 80lbs large donut. I completely agree and dread that time when I have to do it. Almost think it’s a good idea to install the bed cages and install RTT on top of that - aerodynamics go for a toss, perhaps also the CG (with a higher mounted RTT). But in return, get a much more functional...
Between the fun twisty roads or off road adventures where we want to be driving, there are 100s of miles of open boring highways where a good self-driving can be relaxing.
