Further confirms that these are at the factory and Rivian is actively ignoring people with these exact builds who have had guides for months in favor of showing them to preorder holders who just want their configs instead R1 Shop trucks.
Your guide sounds a lot more accommodating than mine, I’ve asked my guide (politely) for shop access and he’s adamant that it’s an automatic thing and that if he could give me access he would. Given that I just chatted with him on Monday I might wait another week or two and then try again...
Yep I think you’re exactly right here. Though, I never received and updated delivery window and my guide said it shouldn’t impact me at all, which is proving to be at least somewhat incorrect.
Yep, this right here is right I think.
I got a similar email right around when I got my guide assigned. No sign of the next steps yet here, though. Two months in to having a guide and the wait is killing me!
Just posting another “no update” update.
Today marks eight weeks exactly from my first call with my Guide and when I signed my PBA. No truck, VIN, or 8-steps yet.
Spoke with my guide on Monday and he basically told me “it really shouldn’t take more than a few weeks”. No real explanation given...
Man, if this is true that’s really disappointing for people who have guides but no truck and further supports the theory that Rivian is straight up ignoring those people. I would love to hear what Rivians thought process is on how long a truck sits in the shop before they’re willing to assign it...
You very well may be right about that, I've certainly wondered if that was the case. Seems like an absolutely terrible waste of guide resources to have someone weighing down their roster like that, but what do I know!
Yeah I definitely will. Really hoping the phone call is at least somewhat...
Yep I’m definitely aware of this, and I was shocked when I got a guide assigned two months ago. I’m just going off of what I’ve seen online and from Rivian:
https://stories.rivian.com/rivian-guides
I’m really just questioning why I have a guide in the first place.
This can't be true. I think they're just heavily prioritizing sending things to the shop in general.
According to these screenshots my exact build keeps showing up in the shop and for some reason they're not assigning me a VIN/truck. I'm a '21 preorder so there has to be some other reason...
Just to add a counter data point, it can also be slow as molasses. I’ve had a guide two months and he has no information as to why I don’t have my truck (El Cap, 21”, BM)
According to my guide both of these colors are very popular and likely have the same delivery timelines attached to them.
Huh, I guess I never even considered that a possibility. I guess dumping it in the shop is way easier than trying to determine who is “rightfully next in line” for that configuration across the country. Makes sense, and good point!
Just curious, as someone with no hope of getting access to the shop (9/21 preorder), is there an option in the shop for people to say “No thanks, I want my original config”? If your theory holds true (and I think it will), at some point they’re going to get a decent pool of people with shop...
It could be right around the corner, 1-2 weeks, or it could be 2+ months out. Having a common config hasn’t helped my case. If you live in an area with a lot of R1Ts delivered already you’re probably going to get it sooner.
This is especially curious given that you're in WA. I feel like out here in NC we're fighting to get the scraps or something. To be completely honest I would rather not have a guide at this point. With a guide there's the illusion that something is going to happen soon. Two months in with a...
So tough seeing my literal config sitting there and not being able to do anything about it! I wish my guide had access to these hah. Someone please take those El Caps for me!
I’m wondering if I’m in the exact same boat as you given that we’re both in NC. July is quickly disappearing especially when you consider transport times from Normal to Atlanta/Richmond and then from there to our homes. I really want the full Rivian delivery experience but I’m strongly...
Wow, that's crazy to think it could have been a glitch that I just barely missed out on lol. If I would've gotten a VIN I would've done the same haha.
I asked about this and he told me it was only for customers with preorders from 2018 and 2019. That was back on June 15th so who knows if...
