  1. Oh Hell: Damn Judges

Fort Worth still has the door open….
  2. ?? [Update Sep 29 - Rivian Receives Clearance Certification to Import R1T / R1S!] Rivian failed to meet Transport Canada requirements to import

Huh… That means it must have been a very minor label/display or documentation issue. A opportunity for the mandarins at Transport Canada to demonstrate their apparent sovereignty over important national transportation issues.
  3. Musk: Tesla Cybertruck will be waterproof and can serve as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes & calm seas

The key word is “briefly”… And the unspecified “briefly” period ends as soon as she goes down.
  4. ?? [Update Sep 29 - Rivian Receives Clearance Certification to Import R1T / R1S!] Rivian failed to meet Transport Canada requirements to import

I think they would have a problem with that. The Thunderbird accent lights weren’t even required, but it was a no go for Transport Canada.
  5. Anyone have issues with off gassing

I have detected some off gassing, but it goes away when I leave the car.
  6. ?? [Update Sep 29 - Rivian Receives Clearance Certification to Import R1T / R1S!] Rivian failed to meet Transport Canada requirements to import

Most likely labeling issues (French in key locations). Might also be lights in or too close to the bumper (rear)… Ford made that mistake with 2002 Thunderbird, they ended up blanking off the front accent lights for Canadian versions.
  7. Shattered Rear Window - R1T

Automatic car washes have drying blowers that are FAR FAR more powerful than a leaf blower, so it should be able to withstand a light duty leaf blower even if there was a small stone thrown. The common denominator here seems to be the windshield, roof and backlight are all in the same...
  8. Cost to replace cracked R1T roof glass - $2209

I’d be tempted to just drive it with the crack. Presumably it’s laminated and cracked only on one side, so still watertight. Also, if on the outside a windshield repair kit might keep it going for some time (cyanoacrilate glue wicking into the crack).
  9. Fridge in back seat

Good implementation… that’s really the only practical location for most Dometic refrigerators. Their height precludes the bed and frunk. Nice that you were able to retain the third seat. One question: With the long side of the rear seat cushion raised, can you still fully recline the front...
  10. Phantom drain after 3 weeks of no use

If that is true, it would go a long way to solving the critical problem by effectively providing the virtual “off” button that actually turns everything off. But it would be a brute force solution that would betray the underlying problem of relying on big central processors. Gear guard could...
  11. Phantom drain after 3 weeks of no use

Seems like everyone is having this issue, but to varying degrees, depending on the software version and feature configurations. It’s a huge issue and is unsustainable, regardless of some peoples workaround comments. It’s just plain wasteful. Rivian seems to acknowledge it and has made some...
  12. I BROKE DOWN…… bought an R1T third party

Don’t worry, they’re making out like bandits with ADMs on ordered vehicles and over priced used cars. Autoline reported dealer groups are having their most profitable year EVER. Scarcity has been their friend, and they want to keep it that way. But it may come back to bite them eventually...
  13. What are the chances the changes to OC and Explore might speed up delivery date estimates?

Probanly due to long lead times on the late addition of the non-powered cover option. It may be simpler, but forecasting is everything for the supply chain, and this option was created way after the forecasting was done for everything else.
  14. Munro to help Rivian with production speed

That is exactly why. Munro’s business is selling production & design advice, the YouTube videos are more of an advertisement of their capabilities. You can be sure the contract included a confidentiality clause which is to silence YouTube exposure of design disasters such as a door panel with...
  15. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

Sure, as an individual you can afford that. But look at the bigger picture on energy efficiency. Remember when governments provided incentives to switch from incandescent to LED lights for similar energy savings. Based on your numbers, a better return could be achieved by providing similar...
  16. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

Ha!!! I make no apologies for Fords warranty costs, which are highest in the industry. There is no excuse, most of it is very low hanging fruit.
  17. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

I agree with that number, it would be financially impossible to sell more with the current cost structure. Rivians only road to success lies in the R2 product, which will have to be radically different in design innovation (not wizz/bang user features) and manufacturing cost. I hope they’re up...
  18. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

I can appreciate your enthusiasm for the promoted product. I too had the same enthusiasm. So did Ford, which is why they invested heavily early on. It was a hedge against their own product development under the assumption Rivian was ahead. They even planned a Lincoln top hat built on the...
  19. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

If not, then what do they actually have to make them able to survive? Peeling the covers, I’m not seeing the engineering and manufacturing innovation that could differentiate Rivian from others. Systemic inefficiency is just one example, and a particularly significant one given the underlying...
  20. Any tests done on Vampire battery drain?

You could do that… Or you could buy a Lyriq, Mach-e, Lightning, Ionic 5, EV6, Bolt, Leaf, Aria… All of which actually turn off when you turn them off. As much as I admire the Rivian’s capabilities, it’s becoming clear it’s more of a novelty vehicle part of the high efficiency environmentally...
