Very encouraging to hear the refusals! I didn't get my reservation in until March 2025. I may have a chance for an LE before 2027. I'm retired, but if I were working, I, too, would leave work now if called.
That's correct, and that's my hope. But, things don't always turn out as one hopes. Just trying to cover my bases if one day, prior to Rivian calling with the good news that my number has come up in the R2 queue, the Subaru dies and I need an EV SUV right away. Fingers crossed that it doesn't...
I envy your planning capabilities. Do you advise on investments as well? (-:
I have been very happy with my Subaru. VERY HAPPY! And would happily buy another. I am going to take another look at the Solterra, but, as I recall, too ugly and too big. The Trailseeker looks attractive (an EV...
I feel like I've explored all other, non-Rivian options and rejected them. If next week we learn the R2 range is closer to 250, that might change things.
Having an R1 for a period of time is attractive, but a new one, for just the interim, seems just foolishly expensive. A used one is a...
I don't need the size of an R1. I've test driven one and feel pretty confident that it is too big for my needs. I would rent/lease one in the interim, until my number comes up in the R2 queue, but don't want to buy one and absorb the immediate depreciation, etc., only to move to an R2 in a short...
Transitioning between an old car and a new one is always a challenge. This is particularly true as I wait for my number to come up in the R2 queue. I'm "all in" on the R2. Don't see anything out there in an EV SUV that meets my backcountry adventure needs like the R2.
So, say the Outback, with...
Yep, that's what they say, and we have committed to good maintenanc procedures, but it doesn't take a lot before you think twice before plunking down $4k, say, on a 2013 automobile, right?
Good to know. Similar to the R1 roll out? They have my contact information. I'm ready. Now, what do I do if the Subaru Outback with 150k miles on it dies before they call? An R1 Certified Pre-Owned?
I'm very happy with my Rocky Mounts rack, which swings out entirely away from the vehicle. Just didn't know how it might work with the lower gate on the R2. I don't understand bike racks that only shift down slightly to give "access" to the rear hatch. Not for people with dogs or who need to...
None of these suggestions is "up my alley," but number 3 clearly seems like the most fun. Let me give it some thought.
The final paragraph leaves me feeling optimistic, but must depress the hell out of early adopters.
Very nice. Now, does anyone have the power to move me up in the queue for the R2? I joined a little late; expecting I may need to wait for the 2027 model year.
Thanks, folks. I assumed this was possible, but haven't had an SUV that has both a lower and upper hatch opening. I have a Rocky Mounts rack, which swings out of the way for a back hatch to open and then to have full access to the rear. I think this will work with both a lower and upper hatch...
I'm a mt biker and hoping to secure an R2 when my place is the queue comes up. But, it occurs to me that I've never seen a bike rack on the back of a Rivian. Given the "outdoor adventure" vibe of Rivian, I'm assuming it's possible to take your mt bike on the car. Right?
How important do you think it is to wait for the 2027 model year of the R2 to pull the trigger on a purchase? Several people in the forum mention intending to do this. Isn't it possible that the "kinks" in the R2 will have been ironed out with development of the R1, or do you think the changes...
