I’ve come to like out of spec a lot after watching all their rivian coverage. They aren’t into reshooting to fix when they misspeak in one of these videos, so you get that.
Definitely agree that there should be enough power to move the truck with 2 tires touching, so probably some further...
the tech looked at the door and came to the same conclusion everyone has, you can't fix this by adjusting the door. it's even at the top and bottom and way out in the middle. the two doors just don't match each other, so one or both of them are wrong.
hopefully I hear something back soon about...
Well today is the day. Mobile tech came up from Orlando and actually arrived 2+ hours earlier than the appt, which is fine with me. They’re replacing my steering wheel that had the wrinkles in it first, and then we’ll see about what he can even do about the door.
guy is in a very slick ford...
2022.11.2 and no bricking, great success.
Now a mobile tech is here replacing my steering wheel with the wrinkle in it and attempting to adjust this door that has about a 1% chance of success.
still hadn’t gotten the update so I texted my guide and ended up putting in a ticket. Whether coincidence or not, the update is now ready for me to install.
My door situation has me concerned that I may end up having to push pretty hard. I mean, I will let them try to replace the door with a new one sprayed at the factory, but if it doesn't match well enough, then no way.
Even though they’re permanent magnet motors, unless they’re physically jammed, you should still be able to turn them even if there is some drag. Certainly seems like you’d be able to at bare minimum limp along at 20 mph.
Bosch drive units in these current quad motor Rivians. The new dual motors coming next year will be in house. I'd imagine at some point there will be in house quad motors, too.
I wonder about that. I also wonder how long it’ll take them to work these kinks out. Considering they’re supply constrained and actually still building pretty slowly, the quality control on basic stuff like body fitment probably should be better.
The interior is very well put together, though...
Well, I’m rooting for you to get a good fix since I need the same!
none of this is preventing me from driving the truck, so I really don’t want to have to give it up for awhile for them to fix it, but I’m sure I will. Maybe I can schedule it for when I’m out of town for a week.
So did your issues get resolved?
my hood alignment isn’t perfect but it’s pretty good. I’m not upset about that. The passenger side bumper isn’t great where it connects to the front right fender, but it’s also not the end of the world.
The worst problem is the passenger side rear door is stamped such that it sticks out nearly 1/4" past the back edge of the front door but only in the vertical center section of the leading edge of the door.
Driver side isn't perfect, but I can deal with it. No amount of moving the two doors...
I took mine out for a quick spin on a go kart track nearby and after a couple laps pulled off the track and it had a bunch of faults, but I just let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and they all went away. Had me quite concerned for a second, but I figured it might go away on it's own.
I've been to the temporary Atlanta location, and it's possible they have a similar setup in Miami while they finish the permanent SC. They just rented some vacant warehouse space month to month and have no signs and are just using it to do what they need to do prior to delivery and delivering...
