Well ya, of course 240v and whatever amps is going to keep the Rivian battery from depleting in the cold, but it's still going to waste a ton of energy keeping the battery warm.
Tesla Supercharging network is the way to go with EV's, simple as that. Never once had a problem charging. I guess it's basically a given at this point for me, as at this rate, with Rivian pushing me back to 2025+ since I "don't live near a service center", I'll probably have a Cybertruck in my...
With the dual motor option AWD, not having locking diffs and relying on brakes to control wheel spin during off-roading is a real miss by Rivian. Brake control of wheels is reactionary and terrible.
He says out of all the electric SUV's he's tested, the R1S is the best. Considering it's the ONLY electric SUV right now, not sure what he means. The Model X and the BMW iX are more crossover/activity vehicles than an SUV if those are what he is referring to.
Exactly. The quad motor design actually works the best in street situations in which it can maximize traction when all four tires are touching the pavement.
By the way, the Hummer EV also suffers off-road from not having a mechanical locker between its rear wheels and two motors (software...
Wrong. I've done the math on this, and actual torque that can be applied to each wheel in my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Diesel is almost three times the torque a Rivian can put down. This is due to the Jeep's diesel engine, automatic transmission 1st gear, torque converter, low-range transfer case...
These are sweet. May downgrade my off-road wheels to standard on my build to pick these up., But then again, I'm not near a service center so will probably never get my R1S before Rivian goes belly up.
Are you pre or post price hike? It would be interesting to take a poll to see if those of us put into the "Processing Estimate" 2025+ penalty box due to not being "near a service center" if we're all/mainly pre-price hike people.
Am actually not surprised since Rivian is doing a lot of shady stuff. Like those of us who've waited years for our R1S and is now a 2025+ delivery because we aren't "close enough" to a service center. Which is really code for "get lost with your pre-price hike reservation".
I have an R1S on order and curious, how is the ride quality? As I get older, I want something quite comfortable on the highway that just soaks up the bumps, is quiet, and has real comfortable seats. Maybe not taken as far as a Mercedes S-Class, but what do R1S owners think about ride comfort...
Not sure if I would go with Volvo electric. My sister has a hybrid XC90 and has had massive electrical problems with it. Like almost to lemon law problems. Has left her stranded multiple times.. the car will literally shut down while driving.
He said megachargers start next year. Rome wasn't built in a day. How is EA charging going for everyone? lol
How do you "stretch" the truth about 1000v architecture? It either has it or it doesn't. What would be the purpose of saying the CT has 1000v architecture and then it doesn't? This far...
Lol so many butthurt here. Cybertruck 1000 volt megacharging makes Rivian look archaic. Oh and Tesls Semi just did 500 miles with 82k lb total weight. There's a video of the whole trip for Elon haters/conspiracy theorists. :CWL:
Those cheap Chinese pullers are garbage (I've used them.) If you can afford a Rivian, you can afford a real puller:
