Oh that sucks, we got a 2018 Forester in manual just to avoid the CVT. Even though it doesn't have much power, with the off road tires it does a nice job.
However I def see what you beam about the outback being quieter than the Forester.

I think v2h could be great for people with solar without battery back up that work 9-5. During the day solar will provide power, evening early night [rates are higher] then the truck works as a back up and past mid night when rates are lower then the truck can charge.
