  1. RJ quote: more sensors (including radar & lidar) is a way to catch up to Tesla's camera-only autonomous driving system

As a Gen 1 owner I never expected full self driving but I'm happy that they are looking to improve the advanced cruise control system. I have been using it more frequently on some of my long trips but at times it seems to start making a lot of micro adjustments at times. Not to mention it can't...
  2. Very cold temperature range report - part II - with pics and data!

Just did a trip to the Adirondacks and saw similar 1.65 mi/kWh over a 1,000 mile trip. I knew it would be lower than the 2.2 I normally average but thought it would be a little bit higher. Other part is I'm amazed at how good the stock 21" tires are in the snow they handled steep snow covered...
  3. RIVIAN saves JEEP in over his head (literally)

Glad to see the 21s can do this in snow! I'm heading to the Adirondacks soon and was a bit worried about the stock 21s in the snow. I tested them out last night since we had the snow actually stick and found the car drives and handled it really well.
  4. Aftermarket Front License Plate Holder Recommendations?

I have one that attaches to the front tow hook. I bought this one as you can pull it off easily when on trails. Year and half without any issues so far! https://www.brainexplodermerch.com/auto
  5. PA to VT NYE Ski Run

Heading up to ski Whiteface next week and was planning on hitting both those RAN chargers. Hopefully some good snow up there hasn't been the last few years.
  6. Queensbury, NY RAN station is now operational! 10 charging stalls

Glad to see this is open I'll be going up to Lake Placid in January to do some skiing. Always stopped in Saratoga Springs but now should be able to hit this after Newburgh!
  7. REQUEST for RAN - Upstate NY

I head up to Lake Placid and would like to see one in that area as well. I'm really glad they are putting one north of Saratoga Springs that is within range of the RAN at Newburgh to make going up north a lot easier! But more options that far north would be appreciated!
  8. Rivian Dashboard for Upcoming Longterm Phantom Drain Test

Are you worried about issues as there are no service centers in Europe? Also if you are willing to answer where are going to in Europe?
  9. I paid the R1S early adopter tax...and am now the owner of a new Gen 2 R1S Dual Max

I plan on getting some all season tires instead of offroad tires. I'm hoping that would make the noise a bit less while also allowing the tires to smooth out the ride a bit more.
  10. I paid the R1S early adopter tax...and am now the owner of a new Gen 2 R1S Dual Max

I have 21" wheels and have been debating on moving to 20" when they wear out as I bet they would ride a bit better. But I was also hoping the 21" Michelin tires would help the ride a bit.
  11. I paid the R1S early adopter tax...and am now the owner of a new Gen 2 R1S Dual Max

How much better is the suspension in the R1S when going over road imperfections? This is one of my wife's biggest complaints about the vehicle and I keep wondering if I should take her to test drive a new R1S to see the difference.
  12. Test your hitch pin before you need it

I know this came up in an earlier thread and this is the hitch pin I purchased from Amazon and can confirm it works. https://amzn.to/4hXypfd
  13. Gosh darn it Rivian!!!!

I feel the free adapter is sort of an apology for not meeting the RAN goals they had initially stated back in 2022. I seem to remember they talked a big game about number of installs (600 sites all across the USA) and are way short of that goal being under 100 locations last I counted. If RAN...
  14. Many new RAN locations added to the official map!

Right now it doesn't but competition is a good thing especially since other chargers (EA, EVGo) are offering a subpar experience or very high costs. As more EVs are sold we will need more EV chargers to share the load. This is especially true if more people living in apartments buy EVs and...
  15. Many new RAN locations added to the official map!

So glad to see they are expanding north in NY! The location in Queensbury, NY should be perfect as a second stop going to Lake Placid! I wish they would add some to the middle of the state so I can go through PA and take 88 to Albany. Would allow me to skip the tolls in NJ! To be clear I can...
  16. Thule Motion 3 Roof Box XXL on R1S - More space, fits well, runs quiet

Glad to see the Motion 3 fits better than the Thule Force XT XXL box I have. Mine hangs a bit too far back and the hatch will hit it if I don't stop it in time. For those asking a bigger box is really nice if you have a lot of light gear but remember you have a weight limit for the roof rack...
  17. Any Non-Connect+ Users got the 2024.39 Update yet?

Normally I'm fine waiting but my wife wants the Owl sound! I don't know why they don't put the Halloween update in the September release so we all receive it at the same time. Granted we want the Owl sound instead of the bird all the time!
  18. R1S windshield is a magnet for rocks

Two things can be true. First the Rivian glass is not as good as other vehicles and the cracks seem to spread faster. Two Rivian's windshield is fairly upright so it has a higher chance of the projectile putting enough force to crack/chip the windshield. I had a Nissan Xterra for 130K miles...
  19. Questions on Driver+ with Automatic Steering (if you have more please add them!)

Thanks for the reply. I figure Rivian is using the data but couldn't seem to find anything confirming that they do. I want Rivian to succeed since I'm a shareholder so I'm going to start using it more often so they get more data. With the 8-10 times I've used it I noticed the same thing and it...
  20. Questions on Driver+ with Automatic Steering (if you have more please add them!)

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I'll have to move my seat around to try and find the right spot for long drives.
