The original preorder agreement also stated that they can adjust the price so nothing is changing by signing the agreement. Even for pre-March orders Rivian just gave their word to honor those prices out of good faith but legally they can still increase prices if they wanted.

This. I never had any luck in any lottery type thing in my life. Even if I am a late preorder and the "Rivian lottery" is in my favor I would much rather have it so as close to sequential based off order date and with specified configurations that can accelerate/delay delivery.
